Re: acer 3610 help

Try this:
Start -> Control Panel ->Display

Select the settings-tab

Check the "Extend my windows desktop onto this monitor"

I am assuming you connect to your LCD TV with VGA or DVI cable?

You may also have to press Fn+F5 (or some other combo) to enable the vga/DVI out on your computer. You may also have to change the resolution for the secondary display (the TV)

What cable do i need to buy for my laptop when i want to watch a movie thats on my laptop through my tv? i have a Acer aspire 4315

If your tv has a VGA socket suitable for a computer then all you require is to set your laptop resolution to suit your tv screen and a VGA plug to plug lead and you're watching video's.

The screen quit and I need to turn on the external monitor port

Look on your keyboard, along one of the top 2 rows you'll see some symbols as alternatives to the main key function. One will be a small picture of a TV screen.

Press the key Fn and the small screen key together.

Trying to connect Acer One to TV

The 15 pin connector is for a computer type monitor and MOST TV's do not have that type input.

Some TV's have a "S" type input or some form of NTSC video (usually yellow jack) plus two jacks for stereo sound.

You would need a special convertor if you only have the 15 pin SVGA plug on the Acer.

I have an acer aspire 5100 laptop i need to hook up to my tv for a presentation tomorrow. there is no s-video output on it,. how do I hook it up to my tv?

If your TV has RCA jacks on the back or front. Input type. Then you can go to radio shack and get a vga cable to RCA jack converter. That is all you can do. Is the TV a flat screen if yes then you can hook up you pc with a monitor cable like your usine now in your house. Find out the type of TV.. Ask someone to check the tv for a computer port on the back.

You should use hot key on you laptop which switch video out put from you notebook LCD to TV.

Usually its function key at the right lower corner and

<Fn> + <F5> Display toggle Switches display output
between the display screen,
external monitor (if connected)
and both.

I've added link to users manual download.

you’ll need two outputs on your laptop that are typically found on most: the first is a small round yellow socket usually found on the back of your laptop, which is the S-video socket. The other socket you need is either a line out (unlikely) or headphones socket (more likely). You also need a TV with the correct inputs, which will ultimately decide which cables you need
First, you need two separate cables for video and audio: S-video to S-video...and Stereo 3.5mm plug to 2x RCA plugs..Both cables are two metres long and longer cables are also available..Your TV will require either equivalent S-video and RCA audio inputs or a SCART socket - if it only has the latter, you’ll also need a SCART adapter
Once done, plug them all in and switch your TV on, switching to the A/V channel. If nothing appears, open the Display Properties Control Panel, switch to the Settings tab and click Advanced. Look for a Display tab or something similar where you’re able to switch on the S-video port to enable the laptop’s display to route through the TV. Finally, when watching DVD movies (you’ll need a DVD player to do so), look for the option to run them full screen, so you get the best possible picture from your TV.

Your LCD display could have gone bad. Try hooking up an external monitor to the laptop. If the external monitor works, then your LCD is bad. If that's the case it may be more cost effective to purchase a new laptop. Prior to doing so, I would check with Acer to find out how much they will charge you to replace the LCD. Good Luck!
