Question about Inland Pro Wireless Optical Keyboard/Mouse 70119

4 Answers

The mouse wheel causes the screen to jump around sporadically and cannot be used with any degree of effectiveness. Is there a setting somewhere that would help me?

The scroll wheel is pretty much useless, either not reacting at all, or causing the screen to jump randomly up and down, even when I'm continuously scrolling down. Sometimes the mouse won't read at all for a second and I have to lift it and put it back down to get it to respond again.

If you try all of the above and the problem is still there, especially if nothing about the problem changes and it does exactly the same thing it was doing, you may have to remove the batteries from the mouse, locate the screws that are holding it together ( a couple of them may be hid under the rubber feet) and remove the top cover of the mouse. Look around the scroll wheel and see if there is a lot of fuzz or lint around it. Remove the offending fuzz with a pair of tweezers and put the mouse back together. Now it will (probably) work like new!

Given that I'm already looking at buying a new mouse, I guess it can't hurt to disassemble it. I'll try, thanks.

Cursor occasionally jumps sporadically when typing. Any suggestions

If your mouse pointer is randomly moving on the screen, that's probably because you're brushing up against your computer's touchpad while you type - it's a common problem. You'll get used to avoiding it over time when you type.

One option is to attach an external mouse and keyboard to the laptop, thus avoiding the touchpad altogether. Not practical, obviously, if you're using it in your lap.

Another possibility is to reduce the touchpad sensitivity - try going in the Windows control panel, then the Mouse settings, and see what options are in there. Hope that helps.

Check for radio interference with phones, microwave oven, etc. (unplug them for the test).
Yoour PC may also have malware, causing the cursor to jump (but that does not usually cause the double-click problem)

Screen jumps up / down, scroll wheel not working

My guess is that the scroll-wheel is being pushed down, even when you don't think that you are touching it. It might be "locking" in the "down" position, thus causing it _not_ to work when you do try to scroll.

Try the mouse on a different surface, also be sure you do not have any light directed at the mouse - this confuses the eye. Although no mouse pad is required for an optical mouse, sometimes it helps

Are you using a mouse pad. Try turning it over.

Basically if you have a shiny surface below the mouse, it will behave this way.

My mx1000 likes the corner of the screen

Check the batteries. Try changing them to see if this resolves the problem.

Ensure that you have a good surface for the mouse to travel on and make sure that the receiver for the mouse hasn't fallen down the back of your desk etc as this will cause the cursor to jump around the screen.

Hope this helps
