SOURCE: Trimmer starts immediately, then stops

How old is the trimmer? If still under warranty, Sears can fix this. If not, then my experience has been the problem is a bad coil. This is due to heat build up. When the coil gets hot, it shorts out.

SOURCE: Homelite curved shaft timmer line problem

It sounds like its a bump feed which they usually are, try turning on the machine and bump the head off the ground. If this fails to work try rewinding the line on tightly and neatly with no parts of the line crossing over as this could knot it. Quick tip most heads have a arrow pointing the direction to wind the line.

Let me know if that works.

Sears & Craftsman 25cc Weedeater brand new starts but will not stay running?

Try leaving the chokey partially engaged. Operate it this way for a few minutes until the engine is thoroughly heated then move to the run position. If this does not work return it.

Will not start

jerry is correct. these small machines are as tempermental as an electrical system on a car.or one that won't start. IT can be one of 5 or 6 problems. you just have to go through the thing one step at a time. I prefer do look at the cheapest thing first.and then work your way up.

Trimmer won't stay running without starter fluid

drain any old gas/fuel mixture out of unit.
purchase new gas and mix with oil as recommended for your engine.
clean the air filter on the unit.
pull the spark plug and clean with carb spray and reinstall...

you also may need to remove the carb and clean any jets with carb spray... old gas can turn into a shellac'ish type goo and foul up the works...
I recommend draining all fuel after usage...
