Just check if the papers are sticky. Stapled papers even after removing the pins are held together at the point where the pin was! In the horizontal direction it can hold two papers together. Multiple papers can prevent loading of sheets. Clean the pickup rollers with a damp cloth thoroughly, no solvents please.

It can be a nightmare to find out what is causing the dog ear page or folded page at the corner. Check your glass **** inside the scanner to make sure its seated in the scanner properly. The big one is the check the metal paper guides in the scanner paper path. If a guide is bend it will hook the paper and cause it to fold over.
