What would cause a pacs 1500 inverter to put out 140 volts? Input is sitting right around 13.8.

You may not have adequate input voltage. And unless you are hooking up to a forklift battery, the battery will not have adequate current delivery capability for any more than a few seconds at full power of the inverter.

1200 Watts is 100 Amps. 1500 Watts is in the neighborhood of 130 Amps.

I have a Superex 100W power inverter. I want to see if I can plug into cig lighter then a standard extension cord and lamp into it


In order to produce 100 watts at 120 volts, the current will be 1.2 amps. But if you are producing that power from 12 volts input, the current will be at least 10 times the output current, and that would be at 100% efficiency, which is impossible to achieve, The efficiency could be assumed to be around 70% though, meaning that the current input required to produce 100 watts at the output would be somewhere around 13 amps. That's a lot of continuous power drawn from a cig. lighter, and the load might blow the fuse or breaker for that circuit.

Why does my 900w microwave trigger the LUP code & alarm?


you need at least a 1900 watt inverter with a fully charged battery to run a 900 watt microwave,it uses 900 watts to make microwaves and it uses 700 or so to run everything else.

I was curious, if i put my 2055 scanner on 12 volts, instead of the required 13 volts, will it hurt it?


You won't damage anything with 12 volts. Equipment built for use in automobiles will often have a DC input marked 13.8 volts because it's the voltage delivered by a fully-charged battery. But any supply around 12 volts will work. Just be sure the supply has enough current available (around an amp should be fine for a scanner), and that you get the polarity right when connecting it.

Check the input voltage number on the power supply. Many cameras take 110 - 240 volts. If that is the case you do not need an inverter ... if the input specifies a voltage such as 110 OR 220 then that is the voltage you must have from your inverter. If you are stepping all the way down to 12 volts then the output voltagefrom the inverter must match the input voltage for the camera. It is best to use a recepticle adapter for your power supply and make sure the power supply input and the external electrical supply match or the external supply is within the range specified on the power supply..

With 13.3 volts dc input only putting out 94 volts ac


AT 10.64 AMPS THIS WOULD EQUAL 1000 WATTS BECAUSE VOLTS TIMES AMPS IS EQUAL TO WATTS.
There may be a regulator that boosts the voltage when the inverter is in use. you might check in line voltage while in use and see what you get. Operating amperage should be around 10amps.

OK, what is the input voltage? I will give you a ruff diagram here. (volt in) Vcc--sw's-on/off/IR-control board (microprocessor)---ccfl (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) inverter (changes DC voltage tow switching DC (such as on/off/on/off/on/off but at a much faster pace (20Khz)---toroidal coil (this coil will step the switch DC voltage up to about 1000 to 1500 switch DC volt, then this coil will change the orientation of the voltage to current relationship by shifting the current by 90 degree's where it lag the voltage---this process has some changes on circuit and how it works)----OK, from the ccfl inverter------voltage multiplier (all this some HV capacitors and HV diodes hook up an configuration where each stage will double the voltage that go into... EXAMPLE: 4 stage voltage multiplier for each stage now it double the voltage 1500V input to 1st stage--output to 2nd stage 3000V output to 3rd stage 6000V out put to 4th stage 12000V switching DC, they will also refer to this voltage AC voltage because AC switch to from - negative voltage to + positive voltage.


Like in you case, the two volts from the controller to ccfl. Out put volt from ccfl with be around 2.4 to 2.6 due capacitance discharge, Now this voltage will be divided in the ccfl by two input windings (I am not going to explain this). Now the two input winding will induce voltage to the secondary winding (step up). The output from secondary of toroidal coil will be multi switching to the voltage multiplier. Probably in the neighborhood of 1500 switching volt. How many stages the voltage multiplier has I don't know. The ignitier voltage to the cathode from the multiplier would be around 12000 voltage to get image intensifier tube to fire. stewbison

It would show overload if you're drawing more power than it can supply. 1500 Watts is a very high output for an inverter but that is the maximum it's capable of. As with any electrical supply you should not draw the maximum power it's capable of as this can cause it to burn out. Around 1200 would be the max you should draw continuously. You need to check the power requirements of whatever you're running on it. Also you need to check that it's capable of taking 13.8 volts. If 12 volts is the recommended input, putting in 13.8 will increase the voltage output which could damage appliances being run on it.
