SOURCE: Grundfos installation with Buderus boiler. Pump

Do you have more than one zone? If so, it is difficult to tell if the circulator in question is actually running. A trick is to get a screwdriver and place the metal end on the front of the circ and the other on your ear. You will hear it if it is running. If you do hear it, is the circulator itself very hot to the touch? If it is, it may be burnt out, or the zone needs to be bled of air. Another doubtful, but possible, answer is that the circulator is installed backwards. There is an arrow on it and it should be aimed towards the flow of water.

SOURCE: Just bought a house and it has a grundfos

I would guess that the pump is to recirculate hot water so you have nearly instant hot water. The pump should be set to run during periods of high use. I doubt that pump is wired into water heater controls. I would check setting on heater thermostat and turn up if needed. I hope this helps. Thanks

SOURCE: Same problem as another writer

If the pump is hot, the motor has overheated and will stop working. There's no cure for motor at this point. Be sure to de-lime and de-scale re-circulation pumps occasionally.
Return pump and exchange for new. Sounds like you already diagnosed the problem correctly.

SOURCE: I don't understand how to

Sounds like 2 problems:
1) Crossover and 2) Setting timer
Recirculation system has check valve that stops backflow of water when pump is turned off.
When check valve is clogged with sediment, or has worn out, then cold water enters hot pipe or hot water enters cold pipe when faucet is turned on.
Take apart connection where grundfos connects to both hot and cold pipes, and clean with white vinegar or CLR.

My grundfos hot water circulator works great. how often should I set it to circulate the hot water, ever hour, before morning shower or evening shower.

Last one I installed, I used a PIR sensor to control it, so that whenever someone walked towards the bathroom or kitchen, the pump will start up and run for 15 minutes. It really depends how often you use hot water - if only certain times of day, then it would be wasting power to run the pump, and heat loss from the pipes (unless very well insulated). If you have a regular pattern of use, then you could use a timer/programmer as you would on your normal hot water or heating. If your piping is plastic, then don't run pump continuously, as some plastic piping is not recommended for continuous circulation at normal hot water temperatures.

Hi I have a Grundfos pump that heats radiators fine but not the hot water...checked the small spindle and is spinning fine...

Sounds like the diverter valve is not working. In order to heat the hot water, it needs to direct the circulating water to the heat exchanger rather than the rads.

Central heating pump stops running

If you can not hold your hand on the motor for a count of 10 when it has cut out, the motor has overheated and needs to be replaced or find some reason for an overload.

Hello I have a Grundfos circulating pump #UP1542F on my system. It recently started making this high pitched whistling sound for about one minute than quits. It seems to only do it on start up / when

I do not know your system but It sounds like a restriction forming in the system. It may be calcium deposits or a valve not closing properly.

In most cases the impellers are what fail in these pumps. Generally speaking if a bearing is going out you won't have a heat difference you would have a pump that fails to run due to overheating of the thermal overload or the circuit breaker tripping. You can test the pressure to see if it's the same or close to the others 15% or more requires a replacement of the impeller.
Running these pumps without fluid will also quickly destroy impellers within 10 minutes. They require that fluid to stay cool.

I don't understand how to set the timer on my UP 15-10-B5/TLC Grundfos circulating pump. When it is not plugged in, we have a hard time getting hot water

Grundfos is a sealed unit and not a repairable item.
The timer dial should turn.
And pins located around dial control ON-OFF functions as timer dial rotates.

Does the receptacle have power?
If receptacle has power, and Grundfos is not working, then it is broken.
Grundfos manuals for UP series pumps do not show breakdown or parts list of any kind.

Bigger question:
Why don't you have hot water?
Is water heater functioning?
Water heater is a separate appliance from Grundfos pump.
Grundfos pump circulates hot water from tank into the lines so there is no waiting for hot water ... but hot water heater should still make hot water.

Add a comment about water heater if that is also a problem.
You could have 2 problems, and water heater is main issue.
