Question about Panasonic WORKiO Office Equipment & Supplies
Yes it was helpful. Thank you very much for your responses. I guess my message wasn't clear yesterday; the ADF works fine and is not the source of the paper jam. The internal paper path J50 message displays when using the ADF to copy, or printing to the machine. Yet copying on the glass works fine even when making multiple copies. Yesterday, I looked thru the machine and paper path thoroughly, and didn't find any small pieces of paper. Is there a different internal paper path when copying from the glass? If not, then shouldn't the paper path jam occur there as well? Your advice for a fix is be greatly appreciated.
Look inside the printer, some where in or around where the paper feeds from the area there is a piece of paper that is stuck or has ripped off inside the machine, you going have to look with flashlight follow the feed rollers and you will find paper, paper clip, a staple, dirt, something blocking the rollers or feeder from working right.

Does it try to pull in the paper at all? If it can't drag the paper open the top door and see if the 3 rollers are worn down (bald) or dirty. Clean the rollers with a soft cloth dampened with a bit of window cleaner solution.
If it pulls the paper in but it is getting stuck look for any obstructions in the paper-path (as Rod Gandy said it above).
If the paper is getting stopped where it turns down towards the scanner see there is a small black actuator for the paper path sensor. Usually if users drag out the stuck paper that can pop out , or hold back a small piece of paper.
(To remove/fix it:
Lift up the ADF ad you'll see 2 big screws of the bottom front holding the front panel. Remove them, and take off the front cover of the DF. To do this you have to lift the DF feed tray a bit. Then close down the DF and find 3 small screws on the front left - they are holding a square plate with gears behind it. Remove them and the plate. Than there is a small triangle-shaped plate behind it with one small screw. Take that screw off and remove the plate - it has the door pin on the other side of it. Take off the ADF door. You will see the mentioned actuator in the middle, behind a long steel plate. That plate has 2 screws on the front, nearby where the mentioned triangle plate was. If you take that 2 screws off, you´ll be able to remove the long plate. Check the actuator has it's spring and is sitting correctly - if not, fix it.
Re-assemble it following the same steps backwards.)
