You will need a schematic, a signal generator, voltmeter, oscilloscope, test leads, circuit tester, formulas, know ohm's
laws, electonics formulas and the laws, and how circuits work and perform under normal use. what is open, or shorted or and normal.
transistor working knowledge and testing procedures, where to place test leads, what type of signal should you see at the point where you test lead is located, is square wave, sign wave, frequecies, length of the signal, duration, time in seconds, testing resistances, capacitance, inductance, decibels reference levels,
metric conversion table, multiply by, convert to, into, conversely, multiply by,resistor color codes, capacitor color codes, transformer color code, electronic symbols and abbreviations.
this what a serviceman needs to know and a lot more information.

Fault in the main power supply regulator board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Why is my Samsung HL55687 turning off on its own.

Hello
Power supply regulator board of your TV has some fault with it. It may either outputs less or over voltage from it to the entire circuit baord to which it has been supplied with. if this happens, the voltage seneor circuit built around the main system control section microcmputer of your TV will sense this situation, and apply a stop signal to the power regulator borad which in turn stops secondary power from it. This process will repeat after some time of instantaneously. The power regulator board should be trouble shooted. It is better to replace it as a card basis, rather than making 'surgery' to it. OK.

Troble shooting

you may need to check your power button/power supply.

the power button could be sticking, causing the machine to turn off

the power supply could be going bad, and not providing the proper voltage to run the system

Electricity went out in town, tv won't turn back on.

On this type of problem, the first thing I check is the AC line fuse on the power supply. Follow the Ac plug wire to the power supply board and where it plugs in, you will find the fuse. If: Then: It checks bad. Replace it. It goes out again. Call a Servicer. It is good. Check for the five volts that goes to the Main PCB. No five volts, change the power suppy (SMPS) Five volts is there, more than likely the Main needs replaced and SMPS. For a Samsung Servicer in your area: 1-800-SAMSUNG
