Question about Cub Cadet Garden

Why will a cub cadet lawn mower cut grass a few mi. then stop cutting?

The mower will cut grass for about 12 feet, then quick cutting still going forward. You can stop and back up then it will start back cutting for a few steps then stop again. the PTO just cuts off and on.

Sounds like the electric PTO clutch is bad and needs to be replaced. The straps within the clutch brake causing it to get out of position and the clutch keeps disengaging. You can buy the clutches on line cheaper but they don't last as long.

How do I disable the two safety features on the Cub Cadet xt1, namely the seat cutting out the engine when off and not being able to cut grass in reverse?

Why do you want to disable these features? The mower is designed to cut going forward, it probably does not work well in reverse. And the seat feature is meant to stop it from running you over if you fall out. That being said, you probably either just need to short or disconnect the wires leading to the sensors in the seat. I'm not sure how you'd get it to cut going backwards. I personally wouldn't try either, as it would void your warranty and make it less safe to operate.

Need to know how to change transmission fluid on cub cadet lt 1045 riding mower

Cub Cadet has five models in their new Series 1000 lawn tractors, all powered by Kohler engines. Cub Cadet models -- as several other lawn equipment brands -- are manufactured by MTD Products.

The Cub Cadet LT 1045 has a 20-hp Kohler single-cylinder engine, with an aluminum block and cast-iron sleeve for longer life. It has a full-pressure lubrication system with spin-on oil filter for easier maintenance. This engine is not as powerful or as long lasting as the Kohler V-Twin OHV, which is available in other models in the line, but the LT 1045's engine is still solid enough to provide years of mowing.

The hydrostatic (automatic) transmission is a good match with the engine and provides sufficient grip to cut grass on moderate inclines. Power is transferred from the engine to the transmission by a heavy-duty Kevlar belt rather than a more expensive shaft drive. A Kevlar belt also drives the three cutting blades.

The mowing deck cuts a swath of grass 46 inches wide at one pass, and is removable for service and cleaning. Four anti-scalping wheels help keep the deck from scalping grass on uneven ground. The cutting height is manually adjusted from 1-1/2 to 4 inches. The turning radius is 18 inches, which standard for lawn tractors. This model is intended for use on 1- to 2-acre lawns without many turns or small obstacles.

My cub cadet 1042 leaves a stip down the center when mowing. I have new blades put on by the dealer and this seems to be an ongoing problem.

I had the same. design of the deck is not good. grass will build up and insolate (like a donut) the blade from cutting the immediate blades. FIX - replace custom blades with "Gator Blades and the claws will free up the cluster of interferances of grass, kick it out, thus allowing the blade free space to cut the immediates blades of grass.

Hope this helps as it was my last trial of fixes. IT DOES WORK.

There are just so many possibilities. I doubt this is specific to Cub cadet. Usually it is a result of a misalignment.

Cub cadet Z Force 48 inch zero turn blades won't engage

I hope this will help you...under the side panels on each side of the mower, there are "reverse lockout safety switches", they are supposed to stop the blades when both handles are pulled back. If one or both of the switches are out, the deck will not engage. Also, under the right side panel (when sitting on seat) there should be 3 relay switches, the one closest to the motor controls the PTO., if this is out, the PTO will not engage.
