How do I fix my air conditioner/furnace

So my ac keeps shutting off, this is the third time in 3 weeks, the first two times we called someone out to fix it, but the guy our landlord calls takes like 5 days to come out here everyday he claims he will be out that day and I just want to fix it my self, I checked the breakers switched them back and forth unplugged and plugged it back in, but thats all I know to do, I dont have any experience with this, but hopefully someone can tell me how, I checked for an on/off switch on the unit but there is not one, I also need to mention that I tried to turn the heat on and nothing happened. so to sum it up neither heat or a/c works and I want someone to give me steps on how to fix it

If the furnace wont work, neither will the ac. There should be a box by the outside unit. Open and pull the disconect out. Thats the switch. If ac is blowing fuses, its just to hard to say, but id look at the electrical part. Mice love it their andwill chew wires. Its sounds like a short, but worse case the ac compressor is locking up. This can be solved with a hardstart kit. The condenser fan may be shot as well, or by itself. Its possible you have a bad duel capacitor, but that usally wont let it start at all. If its a freon issue, this will kick the unit out, but not trip breakers. Be sure the coil drain on top of furnace is clear, or whater could back up and get in the electronics of the furnace, blowing the furnace fuse, not the ac. Id get a bettter tech out there and just take it off the rent. Your landlords guy should have this figured on the first try. But if you have no electrical experience, leave it be. The ac is220 volts, and mi nimum of 20 amps.

SOURCE: Rudd Furnace does not heat after temperature falls below thermostat setting. After the furnace is off for sometime, it will restart and work fine for a few days and then will not restart again.

The thermostat could also be causing this instead the furnace electronics.

SOURCE: Thermostat calling for heat but furnace shuts off and on

check your condesate trap. if its blocked it could be causing a pressure issue within your heat exchanger. if its blocked clear it and try to recycle the unit

Our air conditioner keeps going off, and won't come back on, what is the problem?

does the dryer still wor? you can try switching off the circuit breaker then back on in case the ac is locked out electricaly. do both the dryer and the ac breakers, but this would not be common to two circuits which should be independent.

Furnace blowing warm air, ac overheats

Sounds like it is tripping on it's high pressure switch. This could be caused by a dirty condenser coil, overcharge of refrigerant, or non condensables in the system ( air most likely). I would get a second opinion from a repuatable company, sounds like he's trying to rip you off.

INtertherm natural gas furnace starts up 3 times then shuts down. LIght on box inside flashes 3 times.

I would bleed the lines of air if the unit hasn't run for more than a few weeks.

If the flame starts up, but shuts down, a thermocouple or electric eye is erroneously not reading the flame, and it is shutting down for safety reasons.

If you would provide the model number I will look up more specific technical information, if you desire.

Good luck on this.

York AC blown 3 amp fuse how do I replace?

the fuse is for low voltage 24v wires it is most likely located on the control board inside your furnace or air handler most of the time it will look like an automotive fuse there is probably a reason why its blowing usually a pinch or short in the wire if its a re accuring problem you might want to get a resetable 3amp fuse or popper i would be more concrned about calling the company and saying you charged me and never fixed the problem

Rudd UGDG-10EAMER Furnace keeps shutting off before reaching temp

If you have a air restriction, like the tech has said, then the system will be shutting down do to the high limit switch. This switch prevents the unit from over heating, to the point of causing sever damage. Before you call that company back out I would let them know that you are not going to pay for another trip because they haven't fixed the problem. Ruud does not have many problems with the control board. They are a die hard breed.

Compressor on ac unit

It could be a relay for the compressor is sticking in the run position.
If it is only about one week old take it back to the dealer for service or call them and tell them your problem. This should be covered by warranty and the dealer can refer you to someone authorized to do the work.
