Question about Planar Computers & Internet

1 Answer

"Input not supported" even though it appears to be displaying correctly.

I'm using a VGA connection to a PL1910W, and it runs fine when set to 1024x738 resolution. However, that resolution is not the correct aspect ratio and the black bars are disappointing. Everything I can find online (bought it refurbished, no manual) indicates that the native resolution should be 1366x768, but when set to this resolution the monitor displays the "Input not supported" message despite correctly displaying everything behind it. Any ideas?

You will need to go to advanced settings under resolution options and set the display to 60hz refresh rate then go back to resolution and set your native, the problem is its probably trying to default to 75hz and is causing an issue

Testimonial: "Gave this a try. It appears to default to 59hz, and changing to 60 results in the same error message, with the displayed desktop still more or less correct but much smaller than the full size of the screen."

2nd monitor does not work with DVI to VGA converter cable. My video card has VGA and DVi ouputs.

The problem could be in the adapter to the video card. There are different types of DVI connections. If the adapter does not have the proper set of pins then the card will not recognize that a monitor is connected at that port. Monitors themselves have no bearing on whether a single or dual monitor set up will work or not. Digital Visual Interface Follow this link, it may help you determine if the adapter you are using is correct for the graphics card.

Im trying to connect my laptop to my TV, laptop end is a VGA and tv is HDMI. i also have a cord that does VGA on laptop Component on TV..neither will work.. whats the problem?

Hey Erin, when you mean it does not work as in there is nothing on the screen including audio? With VGA to HDMI (assuming you have the VGA to HDMI adapter) you should only get video since VGA does not support sound. As far as connecting goes its pretty much plug and play. That's also assuming that you have set it to the correct input on your tv and make sure your laptop has proper settings. Go to control panel and go to display. Make sure it recognizes dual monitor. Other than that there really should not be a problem. Look at video input on tv and display settings (OR mobile pc > windows mobility center > connect to a projector or other external display (not under classic view - Vista). I hope this helps. Give me a feedback if not. Good luck Erin.

Hi, I have buy a Frontech External TV Tuner card. On connecting to my LCD monitor (AOC) the monitor displays "Input Not Supported", but if my computer is running fine from the card (as manual...

TV tuner cards receive an input. Your monitor should still be connected to your computer using the VGA/DVI/HDMI output. The software for the TV Tuner should take the input from the external cards input and output it to your monitor like any other desktop application.
If your Monitor is giving you input not supported from your standard video output then you may have your resolution set to high,or the monitor frequency set too high (max of 60hz typically for LCD)

No signal input wen connected to the VGA port of my Dell M1210 (Win 7). using an VGA to DVI cable. If i connect the CG223 to an old laptop (vga) it works fine.

The Dell M1210 hos only a VGA output or s-video output, both being analog. If you are connecting the M1210 VGA to the DVI input on the monitor then this will not work. You need to connect to the VGA input on the monitor.

TRYING TO INPUT LAPTOP TO RGB IN,AUDIO WORKS BUT VISUALY "NO SIGNAL"

Reading the online manual - You should have the laptop connected by VGA - PC input
VGA Connection you need to select the correct input on the TV
  • Select the RGB-PC input source on the TV using the INPUT button on the remote control.
you will need to set the laptop up to output to the VGA output, to do this - varies by different manufacturers - But often F4 or F5, with the FN key selects the VGA output - have a look at the F keys across the top of the machine and see if you can see a picture of a screen - then use the FN and that F key together to toggle between display it will change to <Laptop Screen Only><Laptop screen and VGA output><VGA output only> not necessarily in that order.

Our acer 19in LCD monitor goes blank after initial startup and msg "Input not Supported" appears. Startup msgs are shown but once Windows XP starts, this error appears

Your resolution is set above what the monitor supports.

when computer is first starting up hit f8 to get to boot modes.

choose Enable VGA Mode: This option starts Windows in 640 x 480 mode by using the current video driver (not Vga.sys). This mode is useful if the display is configured for a setting that the monitor cannot display.

When you are booted into windows you can then set your resolution to the highest that the monitor supports which is 1440x900

Let me know if this helps.

Input not support, Acer V193w

if the monitor is DVI conencted to PCI card, the computer will not see the monitor, on boot up, only in the Windows mode.
replace the DVI connecting with a VGA connection on the monitor, if there is no VGA connection on the monitor then you need to get a VGA monitor and connect that to theVGA port on the motherboard connector at the rear of the computer.

Samsung TV can't detect connection to laptop

Make sure you set the laptop to display at a resolution the TV can display, it seems best to start with 1024x768 then work up.

If you are using a VGA - HDMI converter it is possible you will not get a picture.

You should be able to set the laptop to 1024 x 768, plug it into the TV, select PC input on the TV remote, and the picture should appear.

If not, then check you have the monitor output on the laptop switched on, test it with another monitor to be sure.

If all the above still fails to work, and you've checked the cable the TV has a fault.

I hope this helps.
