You probably knocked it out of time. There are two push buttons on the base of the machine. One of them is for resetting the timing. Press the button down and rotate the hand wheel until the button (locks-in) to a groove continue to rotate hand wheel until you hear a click. That click is the clutch re engaging, after doing this you should be able to sew just fine.

It feels like the gears are binding up but the belts are not tight?

When's the last time it had a professional cleaning and lubrication? My guess is the lubricants have solidified. Or you may have a warped or wobbly or missing tooth in a gear or three.

I keep breaking needles on my Brother 1034D.

Sounds like your timing has messed up ... your booklet should tell you how to adjust this. If you do not have the book, Google "Setting the timing on my Brother 1034D" and you should be able to figure it out using a video or someones procedure ... good luck!

Timing is messed up, needle keeps breaking

Kim, there is nothing you can do yourself if the timing is out. But you can check it.
- Remove the needle plate and insert a brand new needle.
- Turn on the machine and put it into straight stitch in the center needle position.
- Turn the hand-wheel forwards until the needle is bottom dead center.
- Turn the hand-wheel forwards until the needle raises 2.2mm from bottom dead center.
- The Hook on the shuttle should now be directly behind the needle.
- If the hook is past, or not yet to the needle, the shuttle is out of time.

The presser foot is raising up in the back when I lift it, but the front of the foot will not stay up

sounds like foot is not raising high enough. take off side plate and loosen presser ft screw and if possible slide collar down and tighten screw. u can mess arouond here since this will not affect machine timing.

I have an AEG Phoenix Juicer with no manual. Just used it for the first time in 2 years and can't figure out how to remove the grinding basket so that I can clean it. HELP!

The last solution posted to me (the rather insulting one) told me to look for a lever or release mechanism. I had OBVIOUSLY already done that. After sleeping on it I decided to try messing with the grinding blade (there were to drainage hold inm which I placed the tyne of a fish fork) and trying to rotate it in the opposite direction of the basket. Lo and behold it unscrewed and came apart for cleaning. No release lever or mechanism.

I have a Bernina 1130. It is not picking up the bobbin thread. The hook is clean and oiled. the needle has been changed. It was last serviced November 2008.

Make sure you have the correct needle and it is in with the long groove pointing towards you. If the hook shuttle is rotating and you feel a tight spot when turning the machine by hand it means one of the nylon gears has cracked. If a needle has been broken it is possible the needle bar has been knocked up a little, try dropping your needle down about 3mm and turn the machine over by hand to see if it picks up the thread.
Failing that the timing is out, remove the top cober on the arm and loosen the clamp on the hook drive shaft, when the machine is turned over and the needle is at bottom dead centre the point of the shuttle hook should be about 3mm to the left of the needle.

Thread jammed around bobbin case holder....can't get loose

lol...kinda jammed together but i kinda understand, your on the right track but if you are unsure i would take it to a repair shop,
dont mess around that area because you can throw the timing off, i would need more information to where the thread is actually hung up, send pic if u can
