My hp dv1000 power cord goes on and off from charging mode to battery, is the power port the problem?

Alot of laptops have the same problem. Power ports and the plugs get wiggled around and they eventually get loosened up. It is most likely the problem. Try holding it in a position that you know it's charging and the let go and see if its still charging or not.

Welcome to Fixya

This could be a hardware problem. Lets try to eliminate the possbility of a software issue. Try to boot up the computer in safe mode first and let us see if it will give you the same problem. Turn on the computer then keep on tapping F8 key. Press safe mode when prompted.

Let me know of any development when you are done with the process.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Problems sounds like a damaged power pin from pulling or jerking on the AC cable. I use a Cable Retention Device like the one in this video to keep from hurting the pin.
