This is the serial number. It tells you that the watch was manufactured in April of the first year of a decade (e.g. 1991. 2001, 2011 etc). If it's a quartz watch, it's probably one of the example years shown.

I found a watch and I am trying to look up the serial number but I can not find it can u help

Your best solution is to take it to a watch maker. Serial numbers, if it even has one are usually located on the underside of the back plate. I'm curious, who is the maker listed on the dial and is there any marks or writing on the back plate

I have an old fossil bq-8793, years ago I was going to replace the battery myself. I lost the battery back then, there seems to be no indication on the watch itself as to what size it takes inside or out....

Back Plate:
About 1 1/4'' inches wide. Inside inscription/stamp reads:
FOSSIL INC. HONG KONG 1
Battery:
Energizer 373
Movement plate:
There are 3 inscriptions/stamps
1) S (May be a # 5)
2) 1A
3) TMI TIME MODULE INC. JAPAN VX3J
(The above number stamp may also read UX3J)

I have a pulsar watch, gold plated model number Y112-5299 570261. I need to find out what battery I need for this watch, the one that was in has been lost.

The movement for this watch is obsolete so I cannot find a spec sheet for it. From memory I think it is a 371 (SR920). If you can give me the exact measurements of the area the battery slots into (DEPTH and DIAMETER) (in milimeters) then I can tell you exactly which battery.

I have a movado watch given to me by my grandmother I want to know if you could help me tell if it is real or not or if there is somewhere I could look up the serial number or tell which of the two numbers...

mcdevito75 here, Without seeing the watch, it"s hard to tell, the serial number that counts is on the movement itself, not the back of the caseing. See a small watch repair shop in your area for advise.

My tissot watch st. steel back plate and dial case has 0.5 mm gap. after looking at the watch sideways in light i can see the gap, it seems the back plate can be further pushed inside the dial case so that...

All of the press on backs will have some degree of gap (should be able to fit a razor blade in) but .5mm sounds like far too much. Most probably the gasket is out of place or you need a new one. The gaskets in Tissot are notorius for displacing and mishaping upon a battery change. To get these special red Swiss gaskets you will need to go to a jeweler. I would call around to see who has Tissot style gaskets in stock because sending the watch out for repair will cost you at least $50 and this is an unnecessary cost.

Need a new stem. Can I purchase on and get it put on myself

You have to open your watch and find movement number. Use an eyeglass as the numbers are very tiny. Number is pressed onto one of movement plates and shoud be letters ETA+number.
When this is done, visit your nearest watchmaker shop and ask for stem for movement ETA+number. Do not tell this is for Ebel or you will be charged accordingly to brand name.
There should be no problems for supplying ETA stem.
