If ropes not broken off inside (obvious as it comes off in your hand) then id say your start clutch has some dirt in it , most of them use two ball bearings that can and do fill up with sawdust/dirt and stick
1st id try just giving it a good shake in all directions
2nd id try using a squirt of light oil in the ball bearing housing then a shake
if all that doesn't work , then your going to have to remove side of saw and disassemble the start clutch housing to have a look

Cut off rope knot and remove rope. Then hold pulley remove what is holding it from moving then continue turning rope pulley in same direction until it stops. Then turn opposite way to line up hole in pulley and hole in metal shield and block. Then slide rope through holes and tie knot tight. Release pulley slowly and rope is going to retract just like new...

The rope on my generator gets stuck as i pull to turn it on

Assuming the rope stays on the internal pulley, it is NORMAL for the rope to require great force at points in the cranking cycle (once per revolution of the crankshaft). These are the compression strokes and the force is MANY times the initial pulling force. If the rope returns easily, then the starter assembly is probably normal. It takes a strong arm and fast movement to start the enginess via pull rope. Some units have a compression release to ease this a bit.

The starting cord has broken and I need to make repairs . I would like some guidence

Take the housing off for the pull rope. Inside you'll find a spool. Take that off and underneath you'll find a spring. Replace the pull rope and connect it to the spool like the old one is. With the handle outside of the case run the rope through the pull rope hole then attach it to the spool. Wind all but a foot or so of the new rope back onto the spool. The spring will have a way of attaching to the case and to the spool. Attach the springs to the case. There will be a notch cut into one side of the spool. You need to lay the rope into this notch and then place spool back into the case at the same time attaching the spring to the spool. Don't worry about tensioning the springs. Once the spool is back in you need to start winding up the spool in the direction that tightens the spring. You'll need to make about 5-8 rotations depending on the length of the rope. At this point, position the notch in the spool even with the hole where the pull rope enters the case. Pull on the pull rope handle until you pull the slack rope back through the notch and outside the housing. Then release the rope and the slack should be pulled back inside the housing and wrapped around the spool. Here is a video on changing a pull rope on a lawn mower. The idea is basically the same.

Stihl backpack blower starter rope is pulling harder and harder. When it dose pull it starts right up.

See if your rope pulley is opening up and allowing rope to double over on itself. When this happens the rope will wedge in pulley causing it to pull hard.
