My fader has static in it already. I've had this thing since Christmas and it haven't been used too much. Is there something I can do to fix it or do I need to just order a new fader?

mixer faders can get dust in them , this is why its so important to keep them clean , cleaning them out is a bit messy , as one needs to hold it upside down and spray contact cleaner down in the slot (lots) till it runs out clean/clear while moving fader up/down , of course having it unpowered at this time is correct , allow it to completely dry out before repowering

How to Set up Auxiliaries on a Mixer.

Here are some tips to set up the auxiliaries properly on your mixer:
  • Step1:
Your auxiliaries allow you to send the signal from a channel strip to somewhere else while maintaining the signal on the channel strip. For instance, you can use auxiliaries for monitor mixes for performers in a live environment. You can also use auxiliaries for external effects processors or a number of different situations.
  • Step2:
Set the auxiliaries to pre-fader to allow you to change the level for the auxiliary with the auxiliary knob but not with the channel fader. Most mixers have a "Pre" button that allows you to enable pre-fader mode. If you don't have the button pressed, your auxiliaries are in post-fader mode, which means your channel fader will affect the signal level of the auxiliary output. For monitor mixes, you usually want to use pre-fader so you can control monitor mixes independently from the front of house mix. Some effects processors will be better to run post-fader, though, so don't always rely on pre-fader.
  • Step3:
Send out your auxiliary sends. On the back of your board, you there are the auxiliary outputs. For a monitor mix, you will use these outputs to connect to the inputs of the monitors. When using an effects processor, you will use the auxiliary output to connect to the input of the effects processor.
  • Step4:
Plug in a return if necessary. If you are just doing monitors, you do not need returns to the mixer. When using effects processors though, you need a way to get your effected signal back to your mixer. Take the output of the effects processor and connect that to the return input on the back of the mixer. Now you will have to adjust the return section on your channel strip to get the desired signal.
  • Step5:
Use the auxiliary knob to set the desired level. Once you know if you are running pre- or post-fader, and you have your inputs and outputs all correct, you can start sending signal to your auxiliary output. Turn up the auxiliary knob until either your monitors are set correctly or until you have the desired amount of signal going to your effects processor or other outboard equipment.

Even after callibrating my right deck, the pitch speed keeps jumping up and down... Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi,
you have to replace the Pitch fader, which is causing this .It requires taking apart the IDJ2 and desoldering it from its board. You have to be exprienced with a soldering iron. The spare part is not too pricy itself, so maybe swapping out 2 of these faders at a time and also replacing worn out switches as a maintenance step.

Left hand slider pitch control needs replaced due to fluid spill. How can I acquire a replacement part in New Zealand.I was playing at a function and a local drunk spilled alcohol on my controller.Im not...

DO NOT USE CONTACT CLEANER !!!!!! It removes the lube.... If you can find it there, use CRC226 in the faders. You MIGHT be able to restore the fader with it. With the spout put a bit right in the center of the slot and work it. Here I get it in the electrical dept of Home Depot... not sure what they have in New Zeeland. Replacing the fader takes a lot of labor as the panel has to be completely disassembled. You can probably order CRC226 online if you can't find it in a store there. Here it is about $2.75 for a can.

What lube can i use to clean numark nuvj crossfader. i'm gettin a leak while using the fader.

Usually a "leak" from one side to the other is an indication of a cracked resistance element. The fader would have to be replaced.

I lube the faders on my mixers using CRC226 availablle in the electrical dept at Home Depot. Use sparingly.

How do i replace faders for the vmc 004

Hi you will have to open the mixer, make sure the power cord is not plugged in. The fader screws in from the back and the wires may be soldered. so you will have to unsolder the wires and re solder them to the new fader and replace and screw new fader in. Close mixer ..

Turntable Crackling

sounds to me like your fader has popped! lube contact spray will not solve the problem, it will only clear it up for a few passes if any! PCV faders have covers inside which stop any lube getting right on the contacts! but in my experience as a scratch dj for 11 years is that contact spray only make the problem worse over time! best shot from here is to replace the fader, or get a mixer with optical/contactless fader i suggest a mixer with the 'eternal' fader i.e. ecler 360/80hak. hope this helps

I've got to be honest...(in response to your question)

The need to be cleaned as much as you play them. If you play them on a daily basis, I would suggest cleaning the pitch faders at least once a month. Also, the studio environment is also a factor. Is it a dusty place, or relatively clean?

You can clean the faders out with an air can, and some Deoxit or other contact cleaner. DO NOT USE RUBBING ALCOHOL.

There are 2 was to clean, blow the air can inside the fader, removing any debris, then spraying your contact cleaner, then spray air again.

Or, you can take the turntable apart, take the pitch control apart, and clean the contact fader inside. Desoldering is required for this. But it's a more thorough cleaning.

Helpful tips can be found here: www.djproaudio.com/Help

Or, you can just buy a new fader, and install <-- easiest method!

Pitch/Tempo control/fader problem

You can buy a contact cleaner spray and spray inside the fader while moving the fader from -10 to +10. If the problem is dust or dirt this will fix it. If the problem presists, then go ahead and get a fader replacement. It's easy to replace ;-) Regards. DiMiS Greece.
