Tip broke off? A single bar slide tube? Head to Ebay and buy a STRAIGHT WALL double bar slide tube. It'll run you approx $25. If your gun is an older single bar, it'll have the spring thingies on the mag tube. Those are standoff bushings meant to keep the slide tube from rubbing the mag tube in more than a few small areas. Stops rubs and friction. You'll need a two bar STRAIGHT WALL slide tube to work with those bushings. Newer slide tubes have dimples that will NOT work with those bushings. When you get the two bar straight wall tube, just pop the pin out of the one bar and you'll have a new tube. If you want to get rid of those bushings so you can use a modern dimpled tube and forearm, buy a new mag tube without the bushings, and a two bar dimpled slide tube.

Anything you can tell me about Winchester Model 97 Ser# 201413. when it was made and value.

The Winchester Model 1897 evolved from the Winchester Model 1893. The Model 1897 and 1893 were both designed by John Browning. The Model 1897 is an external hammer shotgun lacking a trigger disconnector. This means that the user can hold the trigger down while cycling the shotgun and once the action is returned to battery the gun fires. The gun itself is classified as a slide action pump shotgun. It was the first truly successful pump-action shotgun produced. Throughout the time period the Model 1897 was in production, over a million of the type were produced in various grades and barrel lengths. 16-gauge guns had a standard barrel length of 28 inches, while 12-gauge guns were furnished with 30-inch length barrels. Special length barrels could be ordered in lengths as short as 20 inches, and as long as 36 inches. Along with various grades and barrel lengths, the Model 1897 came in two different chamberings. One was the 12 gauge and the other was the 16 gauge. The shells should be of the 2-¾ inch or 2-? inch model. Any shells larger are not recommended. An average Model 1897 held 5 shotgun shells in the magazine tube. After including the one shell that could be held in the chamber, the average Model 1897 held a total of 6 shotgun shells. However, this would vary from grade to grade. When working the action of the Model 1897 the forend (fore grip) is pulled back, forcing the breech bolt to the rear which extracts and then ejects the spent shell while simultaneously cocking the external hammer by pushing it to the rear. When the forend is slid forward again, the breech bolt pushes a fresh shell into the gun's chamber and locks into place. This action of sliding the forend back and forth (pumping) is why the gun is classified as a slide action (or pump) gun.

Rattle in the fore end

A 500? A 535? A 590? A 600? An 835? All the same, the classic 500 action. The forearm is designed with separate action bars that are pinned in place at the action bar collar on the action slide tube. The pivoting bars made binding and bending of the bars an impossibility and allowed the gun to function even when wet and dirty as sporting guns tend to get. At that time, the late 50's, bent action bars were a pretty common thing. At that time, replacement parts weren't an Ebay bid away. The Mossy pinned bars made the Mossy 500 work well and keep working when others didn't. It's designed to be a bit loose....but today's parts are easy to come by. If you want to stop the looseness, there's an easy way. Remove the forearm wood, make sure the gun is unloaded, of course, and then pull the action slide tube all the way back as if you were pumping it to shoot. With it ALL THE WAY BACK, heat and solder the joint where the bars are pinned to the collar. Takes just a dab of solder on both sides. Word of warning....it is NOT easily reversible! If you don't like the solid feel later, it'll mean a new action slide tube!

How do you remove the folding stock from the 870 pump action shotgun. The stock is loose and I would like to tighten it, but cannot reach the bolt because it is behind the locking pin.

You remove the allen screw top from the folding part of the assembly, then get a hammer and a dowel and tap the steel rod out of the center. After you take that off, you can then unscrew the assembly from the guns frame. To put back on, reverse process,.

Link between handles needs replacing. Are parts

Hi,

This is called the "hand grip connection bar". Your dealer should be able to get this part for you. Please ask for part number SPQ465230.
It is also available on our website. Please follow this link:

Please note that the connection bar is attached by rivets. Before trying this yourself, please make sure you have the proper tools. If not, mounting the part is best done through your dealer.

I hope this helps.

How do you load a 12 gauge pump action Mossberg (500)? There is no magazine for it, but, is mag ready. How do you manually load?

The loading port is on the bottom of the reciever. You mention that it is "magazine ready"? Mossberg shotguns have a tublular magazine underneath the barrel, surrounded by the action bar and front grip.

Loading the magazine entails holding the shotgun in one hand, taking the shell in the other with the folded end facing the front end of the barrel. Place the shell in the magazine opening (on the bottom) and push it up with your fingers and forward with the thumb of the same hand. It will go completely forward of the silver/blue lifter and stay there when you let go. (the action must be closed to load the magazine).

Alternately, you can open the action and pop a shell into the ejection port on the right side, close it back up, and shoot!

How to install bar ends on a bmx bike

Hi there,

If your grips have closed ends, cut a section off so you have plenty of grip left, but a hole where the bar ends can go through. Follow below procedure with the bar ends.

Bar ends are either have a screw or allen key head. Tap them into the ends of the bars with a rubber mallet. Tighten up the screw/bolt as this will make them expand keeping them inside the bars.

If you need to remove the grips:

Get some hairspray and lift the edge of the handlebar grips up, spray down until the grip is slippy and comes off. (Only use hairspray though, as once it is slippy, it will be very sticky in a minute so it will help when you replace it. Repeat for the other grip. Clean up the bars where the grips were. Refit the grips with more hairspray inside the grip and a little on the bars. Slide them on and leave for a good 6 hours so they stick.

Hope this helps mate, please vote for me :)

Does not fill - replaced inlet valve

i don't think it's a valve problem
Try looking in to a pump, more and more people are having problem with that
there should be two motor pumps, one fore filling and one for draining
maybe there is some wire lose or maybe the motor burned out (it happens)
