I had the same problem with a 2010 Mazda 2 where the clutch pedal is equipped with a small coil spring near its pivot point. The spring was designed to work in clever over-centre arrangement where it not only returned the pedal but also reduced the force required to hold it down to the floor, e.g. when stopped at traffic lights with gear engaged. The spring was originally covered in a thick coat of grease but after some months the grease melted and the spring started to produce a clicking sound each time the clutch pedal was depressed. Immediate solution was to coat the spring in fresh grease. Long term solution was to obtain under warranty a new modified complete clutch pedal box that Mazda developed in response to numerous complaints about the clicking noise.

It may be the clutch bearing starting to fail, pressure applied to the bearing from the clutch fork puts pressure on the bearing, it could also be the clutch fingers on the clutch disc pressure plate

Ticking noise

You have a bad lifter if left unattended its starts by" ticking" then "tapping" then eventually ceases up!! The fix..... Have a compression test done on each cylinder and pull valve cover off and replace ticking lifter or u might just get lucky and adjust it... Until then ..... A heavier weight oil will quiet it down...Not a fix tho......

2005 ford focus zx4 ac compresser making noise when ac is turned on

Yes, it could be the ac clutch or the compressor itself.

I have a 2006 Honda Civic EX that about 3-4 weeks ago began to present a problem that sounded like a bearing going out on one of the pulleys in the accessory drive belt area. The problem presents itself...

sounds like the bearings in ac clutch are going- ac would still work ac compressor has own bearings- quick check- pull the serpintine belt off and using a large screwdriver wiggle the pulley/clutch on front of ac compressor- shouldn't move at all if good- if bad well.......

Motor tick's when warm

What does the "tick" sound like?? The R-RT is an air/oil cooled engine and some noise is normal. If noise is very loud, it could indicate a problem with valve train or any number of other things.

Does noise stop when you pull clutch in with trans. in neutral?

When were the valves last checked/adjusted? Was rocker arm end play checked as well as valve clearance?

Sorry, more questions than answers

Loud tick noise in crankcase.

Thanks for the background info. With all the work that has been done and the good readings I can suggest a few possibilities.
  1. A broken gear tooth, (highly likely if the "tick" is not present in all gears).
  2. Broken gear tooth on the clutch hub, (highly likely if the "tick" is present in all gears).
  3. Wrong heat range on the spark plug causing detonation.
Set the air screw and pilot screw back to factory settings > turn each inward until LIGHTLY seated. Now open each of them one and one-half turns. The stock jetting should be okay.

2000 Plymouth grand voyager ticking issue

YOU NEED TO ISOLATE TICK TO FRONT OR REAR BANK OF ENGINE..A MECHANIC'S STETHOSCOPE CAN HELP YOU ISOLATE..THEN REMOVE FRONT OR REAR VALVE COVER AND PUSH ON EACH ROCKER ARM..IF A LASH ADJUSTER(LIFTER)IS BAD,IT WILL BE SOFT OR COMPRESS WHEN YOU PUSH ON IT..LIFTERS ARE IN ROCKER ARMS ON A 3.0L AND IN BLOCK ON 3.3 AND 3.8L ENGINES

Loud ticking sound all of the time

Are you sure its not an exhaust leak ..? They can sometimes sound like a ticking noise and the noise will change with temperatures of engine.. ? also if you can borrow a stethicope from someone which is used in automotive repair alot (different than what your doctor uses) this will help you pinpoint the problem .. It sounds to me with out hearing it you have a loose rocker arm possably .. If this is the case this is a easy fix and very inexpensive. just figure which side its coming from take the valve cover off and tighten it till it stops ticking and then give it 1/4 turn. Holler if you need more Jerry
