Trouble garage door

Disconnect the door so the belt and pulleys will run without a large weight to move. If they move ok, reattach the door and try again but help the door move with your hand. If it moves ok then, the door levers and joints may be too stiff and need lubicating and wiggling until they move freely.

Replace a belt on indesit dryer

Tools needed to solve the problem

(A)Standard screwdriver,New belt

1 Unplug your dryer to disconnect power to the unit.

2 Remove the screws that hold the dryer top in place using a standard screwdriver. The screws are located along the top and sides of the dryer. With older models -- 1996 and older -- the entire top comes off the dryer. For new models, the timer and console stay in place while the rest of the top comes off.

3 Remove the screws that hold the front panel and door in place using a standard screwdriver. The screws are just inside the door at the top front left and right sides of the dryer. The front panel on older models will move to the right side and on newer models the door will move to the left.

4 Remove the existing belt by pulling the idler pulley to the right. This will take the tension off the belt and allow you to pull it away from the motor pulley.

5 Install the new dryer belt by wrapping it around the top of the drum and allowing it to fall around the circumference of the drum. The grooves of the new belt should face down toward the drum. Rotate the belt around the drum to ensure there are no twists in it.

6 Connect the new belt to the motor pulley. On newer models you can access the motor pulley on the front underneath side of the dryer. Pull the idler pulley to the right and loop the belt around it. On older models you can access the motor pulley through an access panel on the back of the dryer. Pull the dryer away from the wall and remove the access panel using a standard screwdriver. Repeat the same steps as on a newer dryer to install the belt around the motor and idler pulleys.

7 Replace the front panel of the dryer and the screws that hold it in place.

8 Replace the top of the dryer and the screws that hold it in place.

9 Plug the dryer in and make sure the belt works properly before trying to use the unit.

Pull the hydros and drain and replace the "fluid." I believe it is 20W50 and you want to make sure to get something that doesn't break down and foam up. I did mine last year but probably need to put synthetic 20W50 in them.

My unit runs fine until i hit long grass and the motor splutters slightly could this be a fuel filter i have had 100 hour service and had all the necesarry engine adjustments . i did run the tank empty...

Thank you for using fixya.

It would be pritty hard to get anything in the fuel tank unless you took off the cap and rode it that way.

Some tests you could try:
safety safety safety

remove the belt from the front pulley
raise the front end up a bit
lower the deck 1 notch to release the pully break
with a thick glove such as a welding glove grab a blade one at a time, raise it up and down making sure there isn't any movement. If there is then you have a bad pulley
Now push and pull the blade and make sure it moves freely. if it doesn't then you have a bad pulley or may have string rope fishing line ect spun around the shaft.

Now check the front electro clutch with the key off and pto not pulled, the pulley should move freely. Turn the key on (NOT THE MOTOR) pull the pto switch and the pulley should not be able to move.

If all of these are ok I would take it in and have it bench tested, compression mag needle or coil. A condencer that has gone bad can cause a loss of power, spuddering ect. under a load.

I hope these ideas help.

I have a craftsman model 971.271552 riding mower. I was driving it and it made a noise. Now it will not move. I can push it in neutral, but not when in gear. The belt seems to be o.k. It starts and runs...

The transmission has given up the ghost. Pull the release pin - get it on jack stands and pull the batter. Remove the battery box and look for a tube sticking straight up from the transmission. Stick a straighened hanger down the tube and do a 'stick check' on the fluid level. Fill as needed.

I have a frigidaire gallery 49012/59012 dryer and the drum want turn. The belt is not broke and the motor runs. I can see the belt is not turning on the drum. Is the belt maybe stretched or what?

You may have a belt motor problem. Turn the drum by hand and if it turns freely the belt is off at the motor pulley. You can try to connect it back on the motor pulley but what caused it to come off first off. Your belt may be bad or the pulley assembly may also be bad. You'll have to pull out the dryer and remove the back panel to see and repair. Good luck.

Light flashes 6 times locked rotor

Try to turn the center pulley if it moves freely then unplug machine for 30 seconds then plug it back in then open and close lid 5 times within 10 seconds after plugging in. If the motor resets back to 1 flash every second then you will probably be able to operate machine. If it does not reset or it fails again the motor needs replaced.

My maytag dryer makes a loud noise when on. It sounds like a belt. Can I fix it and how? It's an older model, I don't know where the model number would be. It's loudest when first turned on. Thankyou

To remove the belt go the the rear of the dryer and remove the two or four screws holding the inspection door near the bottom corner of the dryer.Remove this small door. Unplug the dryer. Look inside and see how the old belt is positioned on the pulleys. Releive the tention on the belt by moving the belt tentioner and sliding the belt off the motor pulley.
Go the the front of the dryer and remove the two screws holding the front panel on. Tilt the dryer front forward and remove. Mark and remove the two door switch wires and move the front panel out of the way. Undo the four screws holding the drum support from the front of the dryer and remove. Grab the drum and sllide it forward out of the dryer.
Vaccum the inside of the dryer and inspect to make sure the rollers move freely. If they don't move freely or show wear, replace rollers and lubricate with light oil. Replace belt.
Put belt over drum. Reinstall the drum into the dryer. On some of the older dryers there were teflon drum gliders located inside the front drum support. Inspect glides and replace if needed.
Reinstall the front drum support and four screws. Reinstall the front panel with two screws.
Replace door switch wires.
Lift the top and make sure the belt is positioned on the drum where the old belt was.
Go the rear of the dryer and pinch the belt sliding threw the belt tentioner under the pulley and over the belt pulley.
Reinstall the rear door with all the screws.
Faster the top down and plug the dryer in and test.
Your done.

My Maytag washer leaks badly around the bottom on the spin cycle

Sounds like you might need a new pump belt. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. Unplug the washer and with the water out tilt it back so that you can see the bottom. You have a main drive belt that goes from the motor to the big pulley in the middle. There should be a second belt that goes from the motor to a smaller pulley which is the pump. Make sure that this pulley turns freely in both directions. One direction is agitate and the other is discharge. If it does and your belt is loose a new belt might do the trick.

If the pulley does not move freely take off the front panel, two philip screws about 3 inches up from the bottom of the front panel. Inspect the pump. One time I found a scouring pad in the pump!! If after inspection the pump still does not move freely you may need to purchase a new pump. Find the part number and check out prices on-line. The pump is relatively easy to replace. Good Luck

Not sure how to replace the belt in my MTD, Wards snowblower

Remove the housing with the machine off

The idler pulley is designed to push up against the outside of the belt between the drive and motor pulleys when disegaged the belt should look like a loop like a race track

engage the blade clutch and watch to see if it presses up against the drive pully and the motor pulley

their should be a spring attached to the idler arm and i believe the new belt is dragging a little

you should be able to move the belt with your hands ( it should slip freely) rod is engaged or it pulls the idler away

Either a spring causes tension when the rod is engaged or it pulls the idler away

Keep working with it until it is free you may have an adjustment on the spring tension or the linkage rod has an adjustment

I am sure you can do this without an diagram good luck
