Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Can´t use INTEL SS4000-E to host the files of my database from SQL SERVER 2000

The SS4000-E  is a NAS storage server.  To the best of my knowledge it is not possible to put database files on a NAS.  They need to do on Direct Attached Storage.

SOURCE: graphics card for D 101 GGC intel mobo/2.66/p-4/ram 512

I appreciate your taking the time to list the motherboard specifications. I also downloaded the Motherboard Manual from Intel.com, for the Intel D101GGC motherboard. (PDF version)

Now we know this,

1.You have a PCI Express x16 graphics expansion slot, for a graphics card.
It is the PCI Express 1.1 version technology that is used.

2.The motherboard chipset, (Northbridge/Southbridge chipset) is the ATI Radeon Xpress 200.

What I don't know is what your intentions are graphics wise. What you expect from your computer graphics.

I would recommend a VisionTek Radeon HD 3650 OC
[1GB of GDDR2 graphics ram. 128bit memory interface, with 120 Stream Processors]
(Not advertising for any particular computer parts website, but Tigerdirect and Newegg has this graphics card for around $50 U.S.)

The VisionTel Radeon HD 3650 is an ATI product just like your motherboard chipset.
(AMD owns ATI now through a buyout. It is now AMD ATI)
Using a graphics card based on the same technology as the motherboard chipset, is a recommended option. It IS NOT a necessary thing, but they 'Play Well With Each Other'.

The one thing of concern here is your power supply.
If I were to take an educated guess, (Based upon over 20 years of experience in this area, {Computers), I would guess that you have a 250 to 300 Watt power supply. (And a 12 volt rail with the capability of 18 Amps)

The Radeon HD3650 has a power supply requirement of 300 Watt, or greater power supply.
You'll be okay though.

Why?
Because this power supply requirement is based on a test computer system. The test computer uses computer components that require a Lot more power, than your installed components. This way the graphics card manufacturer is covered.

Do know that as time passes by, components inside a personal computer power supply, break down. Especially, if inside the computer isn't kept clean on a regular basis. You may want to look into a decent, reliable, 400 Watt power supply in the near future.

Sorry this solution is so long in length, but it couldn't be answered in a few short sentences.

SOURCE: Intel Entry Server Board S3000AH

does the server board have onboard video? typically server boards will make use of on board vga and if this is the case you will need to go into the bios and enable either agp or pci-e as your first choice of video support. also make make sure that the bios revision on the intel board is current and upto date as there have been problems with server boards causing random issues.

if this fixes the issue please rate my answer accordingly.

SOURCE: Can't map network drive WD Blue ring edition

The Failed Mount issue is usually caused by Internet Security settings. The most common way to resolve it is to add the following files/ports to the exceptions list of your firewall(s) -- in some cases you will need to add it to the Windows Firewall, even if you have another Firewall installed as well:

MioNet.exe (C:\Program Files\MioNet\jvm\bin\MioNet.exe)
MioNetManager.exe (C:\Program Files\MioNet\MioNetManager.exe)
ServiceStatusGui.exe (C:\Program Files\MioNet\ServiceStatusGui.exe)

These ports are also required for MioNet to create a drive-letter for remote drives:
TCP In/Out 443
TCP In/Out 445

Maxtor DiamondMax 11 is a SATA Hardisk and you need SATA External Case. After adding the Harddisk, all you have to do is connect it to the system via the cable of the external case. There is no need for additional drivers/ CD as all the external harddisks are 'plug and play'and the Operating System detects them automatically.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

I asked this a few days ago; , I have a Samsung SpinPoint P80 SP1604N 160 GB Hard Drive in a HP compaq presario SR 1617CL I want to replace it with a larger HD, 500GB or 1TB. Can I replace it with a...

Yes, either of these drives will work. The cache is not all that important it is just where data is stored temporarily in case you have to access it again soon after a file is written to the hard drive. The best thing you could do in this case is see if your motherboard has a sata connection which I would assume it does and buy a sata hard drive. It will be much faster than either of those drives, just make sure you also get a sata power adapter if your power supply doesn't already have one and a sata cable.

I have a hzd4b with 4 1-tb drives all new. I try to connect to the box to initilize the system but cannot. I believe the firmware is loaded on the hard drives them selves like the buffalo nas solution. ...

petrykja,
I have the same issue as you. I bought an encloser to hold my drives (that i already owned). My firmware is showing 0.38 so I don't think the firmware is housed on the hard drive. However, when I try to upgrade the firmware it says that it can't find the drive to load from. So I think the firmware is first loaded to one of the drives and then to the motherboard. Not sure. Any luck with this wince December?

I bought a "My DVR Expander" to use with my DirecTV HD DVR. Does Western Digital make this expander in anything larger than 1TB? If so, where can I buy one?

Note that your DVR will treat this as "extra" storage, i.e., supplemental to its "internal" storage.

A 1 terabyte hard drive allows you to record:
  • Up to an additional 600 hours of Digital TV
  • Up to an additional 120 hours of High Definition TV
Since the largest EIDE/PATA disk-drive is 0.5 TB, the disk-drive inside the Expander must be a SATA disk-drive.

So, disassemble the unit, disconnect the SATA disk-drive, and pay about $300 to buy a "2000Gb Western Digital Caviar RE4 Raid Edition 7200RPM 64 Mb Cache 3.5 7200RPM 64 MB Cache SATA Internal HD 3 Yr Warranty WD2003FYYS".

Connect the disk-drive to its interface.
Close-up the case.
Connect your "custom" PVR expander to your DVR,
and see if your DVR will recognize the 2TB of disk-storage.

IDE vs SATA

Sata is better hands down. Its the newer technology. I would keep the ide harddrive for media storage and such. You not going to notice the rpm differance to much. But the communication between board and the drive is faster with sata

I can´t use a serial ata disk in a proliant 350

I know ATA disks are cheaper , but they don't last as long or are less reliable.

I do not recommend mixing SCSI and ATA .

Use one or the other , not both.

Do not try , unless your server is non critical.
If it is non critical , why bother with server , a PC will do as well.

Thanks
