Question about Casio QV-R41 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Strange picture appears in CCD

my camera displays strange pictures in REC mode (like thermal image) when I try to take photo. Also when after pressing the shutter and view what's been taken it shows strange picture (I assume it would record what's gone through the len). I can view other images taken previously without any problem. So I think the problem is because of the len was damaged but the playing feature is still working. From what I've been aware of, the camera was not dropped, but the problem happened after I replaced the new batteries. The len retracts fine.

Please kindly let me know if this problem is fixable.

Thanks so much.

Re: Strange picture appears in CCD

I see this problem everyday : the CCD sensor is faulty ( see enclosed pic from a canon camera with similar specs ) this is why you can not capture normal undistorted images but have no problem with playback .Fortunately Casio will repair this free of charge so contact your agent.1057f04.jpg

Try to see if you can connect the cable to a TV and see if it will do the same thing.

Example: camera - cable plug - to Input of TV.

Camera will take picture, but when viewed they are a strange colour.

This sounds like the first signs of CCD sensor malfunction. If this is correct it will get worse and pretty shortly you will have no image at all in capture mode. Have a new sensor installed and camera will work fine.( btw this is a common fault effecting all makes of digital cameras and v-cams ).

This seems to be a CCD problem or associated circuits. Sony Support Team should know about this - may mean a camera callback or swap from Sony.
