Does it die slowly (in which case I would agree with the previous answer) or does it die immediately the clutch is released? If so, then check the sidestand or clutch switch. The sidestand switch is designed to stop the engine if it thinks the stand is down when pulling away.
Hi Paul:
I'd be suspicious of a fuel restriction. May I suggest flushing the carb (there should be a drain screw on the bottom) and see if you can find a fuel filter that needs cleaning or replacing. It may be that a high speed jet in the carb is obstructed. if flushing it did not help, try removing it and use compressed air to gently blow through the orifices (fancy word for holes).
Hope this helps.
