The lock switch is not the actual switch. It engages the real switch in the device you put the card in. Check if you can write anything small to the card, when put in an external card reader. If so, check or let a tech check the switch in your camera. Be aware the switch is very delicat and you can do extra damage when you don't know how to do things.
When you have a bellow to blow dust from the lens, use it to blow in the memory card holder of the camera. Perhaps just a spec of dust is the culprit.

Memory card lock statement probably has no reference to the switch but to the fact that the card will not record over existing content
The same as locking a cd so that you cannot burn anything else on it.

Oops. The little latch on the side in the unlock position, should engage a switch in the camera, indicating the memory card is not writ protected. It is not an electrical switch doing something in the memory card. But is the switch in the camera is defect, you get the same result. If someone once tried to press in a memory card, the wrong way around, this could have been the cause of a damaged switch. Just check the memory card slot, of nothing is in the cardholder, blocking the little switch from working correct. Sure the switch is in the up position, like in the picture? 25288825-qj532vtjsqner5bmetfl14fj-5-0.png

Camera states on screen that "card locked". How do

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Ive used my card in my video camera and my digital camera and somehow it got locked.. how do i unlock my card?

Hi,

Check if you have the tiny lock on either left or right side panel of the SD card. Check if it is slid to lock state.

Good luck.

Camera stating memory card locked how do I unlock

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Some include trying to use of a 4GB SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Others include problems with the switch on the side of the card, or the switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link.

My Kodak EasyShare V705 keeps telling me that the memory card is protected and to reset switch on memory card. How do I do this?

Hi,

To remove the write protect lock, take the memory card out of the camera, face the card towards you, look for a small white tab on the left hand side of the card, to unlock it push the tab up to unlock it, it will be at the side of the card like this 59a6de4.jpg .

Memory card error (states memory card locked) not locked

Remove the card and look for a tiny slide switch on the side of the card. Slide this switch to the other "unlocked" position. Reinsert the card and try it out.
