When you are using different modern Nikon lenses, this is strange.
can you tell what lens(es) you get the message with?
brand and model please. And if one of these lenses worked before? And if you did an firmware update recently.

You have two options at the moment
A) USB dock firmware upgrade
B) sigma service centre repair if parts available
A home hatchet job on the lens NOT A HOPE yet as no one desperate enough yet to wreck their lens in the attempt
My advice sell the lens or the body and use the previous Nikon model that works

Here are 3 pictures of a Sigma lens for Nikon. Your lens should look about the same. Could be a little less connection points, but notice there is no plastic.

Sometime i get an error message on my nikon d90 (lens not attached)why?...i found that by detacching the lens and attaching back fix the problem but i wonder why does that? ps...forgive my spelling

the contacts on your lens or camera may be clogged , just use a pencil eracer rubber one, not syntetic and try cleaning the contacts. look for small black spots ,that can be only removed by a razor.

My d90 flashes an err sign somtimes when i shoot at manual mode.. but when i change my apperture and shutter speed setting, it will not appear anymore. Even at auto mode sometimes it flashes an err. Does...

Try shooting in manual mode with lens set at maximum (wide open) aperture. Then try at a smaller f-stop, say 5.6 or 8. If the error message appears when your lens is set to the smaller aperture, you could have a lens problem. Try another lens using the same test. If a known good lens gives an error message, then the problem is in the body. Also try zooming to different focal lengths and see if your 18-105mm gives the error at particular focal lengths. An error here would indicate a lens problem. In any case, your lens or body would have to be repaired by a professional as these repairs require major disassembly and re-calibration.

I dropped my Nikon d50 and now when I turn it on it flashes fEE. Whats wrong?

The lens is not making proper contact with the camera. Try removing the lens, cleaning the contacts on both the back of the lens and in the lens mount on the body, then reattaching the lens. If that doesn't do it, try jiggling the lens gently. If that doesn't do it, try attaching a different lens if you have one available, or attaching the lens to a different body if that is possible. If nothing works then it could be that the lens and/or camera needs servicing after the drop.

Nikon D40 Error Message

Get the kit changed. That should not happen right out of the box, but make double sure the next time around, you charge the battery completely before using it the first time. Not doing this can cause problems.

'lens not attached'

We had the same problem. After inspecting the contacts I saw that the one metal ball (contact) that was separate from the other contact grouped on the mounting collar was stuck down. By pressing the contact a couple of times with a blunt object it freed up the contact so that when re-attached the lens it worked as expected.

Nikon D80 error

The CPU contacts on the lens can sometimes get dirty and they can be cleaned by gently rubbing them with the eraser end of a pencil.   Be very careful to not get any of the eraser rubbings into the lens.   Also, when handling a lens, don't touch these contacts, as the sweat from our hands is not good on the metal.
