It doesnt't want to go backward if on a hill or etc 250 hrs on mower

It goes forward ok no power backward

    i replace the belt , Idlers were ok also replace hyd. filter. thanks for the help it seem alot better.

Most like it is the drive belt and idlers that are needing replacing especially if it is hydro unit. Many manufactures use a plastic composite idlers that wear out easily.

There should be a second belt that goes from the engine to the transmission. This could either be slipping due to a mis-adjusted pulley or another bad belt.

I have a 1997 Polaris 250 trail blazer. It is an automatice and it will not go forward. It will go into reverse and drive backwards but when you try to put it into forward it doesnt really feel like it...


The problem is a worn shift fork in the transmission. Replace the forks and check forward gear pinions and forward shift dog pinions for wear and replace if they show any signs of wear.

not a expert just trying to help,,i am asuuming the motor is running fine sitting still,,just will not move forward or backward to well,,, check your drive belt to see if there is any problems like pulleys springs or belt worn,,,,hope this help you

Check the drive belt for flat spots. If it is ok then it is probably an internal transmission problem

Hydrostatic mower goes in reverse but not forward. Only 73 hrs on it!


On my hydrostatic there is an adjustment on the forward/back lever which can be made to run all reverse or all forward. Normal setting gives both of course. Look at that adjustment. Maybe something let go.
