Question about GE Dishwashers
Clean button flashing but DW would not start. Replaced main control board Clean button still flashed, no other keys worked. Started DW in service mode, powered off/on and DW responded with test noises, yet no buttons produced a result. Powered off/on, no buttons lit and can not start in service mode. Ideas?

SOURCE: "3 second" light flashing
The 3 second flashing light is a lock that locks out all other functions. To disable, depress the 3 second light for 3 seconds and all the functions will be released. This feature is to use to keep little kids from starting the appliance.

I had the same problem recently and a repair person came to my home to fix the dishwasher. He said he had to reset the control panel. He did this simply by making sure the soap dispenser door inside the washer was closed, then making sure the main dishwasher door was closed and locked. Then he quickly pushed the Heated Dry button and the Hight Temp wash button alternately. He said each button needed to be pushed twice within five seconds. After he did this all the lights on the control panel came on, then turned themselves off before the washer went in to a test cycle. This simple reset fixed the whole problem. Works great so far.

I was able to reset it using this procedure:
1. Crack the dook open
2. Within 3 seconds, press these buttons in this squence: Hi Temp Wash, Heated dry, Hi Temp Wash, Heated Dry
3. Close door
4. Press Cancel
That should clear the Blinking LED. It appears this is a common problem. The worst thing is they charge to come out for this.

SOURCE: clean button is flashing
Thanks for using FixYa. If the clean light flashes, pauses, and then repeats. When the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it stops working and locks the functions (clean light flashes, all buttons are non responsive). It does this as a safety in case the element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water.
To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...
-high temp wash
-high temp wash
Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
