Question about Craftsman Garden

Loosen the chain adjuster and remove the bar bolts. Remove the side cover. Remove the existing chain. Thread the new chain over the sprocket making sure the drive cogs are engaging the sprocket correctly, then thread it over the end of the bar ensuring the drive cogs are inserted correctly in the bar groove. Install the bar/chain onto the bolts aligned with the chain adjustment pin and install the cover. Snug the bolts and tighten the chain with the guide bar tip elevated. Once you are satisfied with the chain tension, tighten the bar bolts and....... VOILA.... you are done. Head for that pesky neighbors tree that drops leaves in your yard.....
Of course, make sure the chain orientation is correct !!!! I have seen them installed backwards on the shelf in the big box stores....

I helped a friend do this back in college a few times. I thought it was really cool to see the way chainsaws actually worked. It was even cooler when I got to see him actually use the chainsaw to cut down a tree. It's really kind of amazing how the process of something like this works. I hope that more people will look closely into their options with things like this. That way they'll be able to do the best thing for themselves.
