Hi possum. Go to the Kitchenaid website and look for your model #. There you can download info on your mixer. You may not find info for attachments though. If in doubt as to what speed to select for any particular attachment, always start at the lowest speed setting, then increase the speed until you can hear the mixer begin to struggle. Try turning the beater in the reverse direction to the direction it normally turns - clockwise looking at the beater (I think), this should make the shaft pins ride up on some cams which should release the beater.
