Sounds like the hard drive has been formatted, and there is no operating system. You will need a installation disc for an operating system to get past this message. As it is now, your computer will not boot from the hard drive.

Emachines screen says no bootable device insert boot disk. I have no boot disk

This error indicates that the system is not able to find a boot-able device to load the Operating System. It could be something as simple as a disconnected hard drive, or it could even be a corrupt hard drive.

You can check if the hard disk is being detected in the BIOS. The key to enter BIOS in E-machines systems are Tab, Del or F2.

If the hard disk is being detected in the BIOS, it could be a faulty hard disk. You can try booting from the recovery partition by pressing Alt+F10 when starting up the computer. If you're able to get into the Recovery Partition, you can try a recovery, but you might lose all your data. If you're not even able to get into the Recovery Partition, you'll need to get the Windows disc for installing the Operating System again.

Says boot device not found .please install an operating system on your hard disk

it means there is no operating system on the device you are using to boot your computer. make sure you have your boot device set to your hard drive unless you are installing a new operating system if so your first boot device should be your cd/dvd and your HD peta/seta IDE second .

What is the boot disc and how do i install it

If the Windows operating system is installed on your hard disk then the boot disk disk is your hard disk. If your computer cannot find the boot disk then the hard disk maybe faulty.
First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

Operating system not found on my laptop wot does that mean?

Hello,
Operating system not found simply means that the laptop cannot detect that there's an operating system installed on your laptop.
It's either the hard disk got disabled in BIOS or the installed windows is corrupted. You might need to check in BIOS if the hard disk is still detected. If it is, make sure that on the Boot options, hard disk is selected as the first boot option. If it is, then that means that the windows installed on your laptop is corrupted therefore you might need to install windows using the recovery discs of your laptop.
By the way, to go to BIOS start tapping on F10 once the laptop starts to boot up.
Let me remind you that by doing this it will erase everything on the hard disk.
Good luck!

Possibly a bad hard drive, if you have the recovery discs for the computer boot the computer with the disc in the drive and choose the option to repair the windows installation.

I got a message that reads Non-System disc or disc error replace and strike any key when ready. What do I do?

Hi,

Here the reason why youre getting the error message

Remove the non-system disk from your boot device. For example, remove the non-system disk from the floppy drive or the CD-ROM drive.

Change your computer's boot sequence in you Bios. Make sure that you select a device that has boot files (or operating system files) installed.

If you start your computer from a hard disk drive, install a bootable operating system (such as Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7) on the drive.

My laptop wont start up, It says "system disc or non system disc error, replace and press any key.." why? :(

you have it set to boot from cd so when you startup the computer it attempts to read the cd and than boot an operating system for you either remove the disk or enter your bios menu and set your boot order to negate the cd drive

What is boot device?

Boot Device pertains to your hard disk that is installed in your laptop where the Operating System is installed in order for it to run. If an operating system is not installed, it will require the installation CD/DVD disc where it will boot alternately until its installed.

There are certain issues that the system does not boot on the hard whenever the settings is primarily set to boot to a USB or CD/DVD device initially wherein either a USB drive is attached or a CD/DVD disc is inserted.
