Question about Jenn-Air 24 in. JDB1100AWS Built-in Dishwasher

Open Question

Dishwasher fills, motor starts for 2 sec, then stops for 5 sec does this 4 times then control panel lights go out leaving the pan full of water. control panel is new-ish

I have a Jen-air dishwasher model JDB1100AWS. It will fill but once full the motor will only spin for a few seconds then stop, then pause for about 5-10 sec and spin for another 2 sec. It does this for a cycle of 4 spins and then the control panel lights go out as if it were done. When done, it has not drained the water. I can start and then immediately cancel a cycle and it will drain the pan. I replaced the control panel less than a year ago. so... the control panel is new-ish the motor does spin. the machine fills and empties. it has all the same symptoms when I start a normal or a heavy cycle what are your thoughts?

UPDATE: After posting this question, I continued to troubleshoot the issue. I discovered that, while these symptoms were very reproducible in the normal and heavy cycle settings, I tried the other three settings (china, rinse only and quick wash) and they worked fine. After that ... the normal an heavy worked fine too! SO the solution to this problem was to simply start the machine in a different cycle. It is unsatisfying to not have an explination or a part to replace, but the solution, though mysterious, is free!

SOURCE: Dishwasher fills with water... wont wash

usually if the motor is not kicking in then it is a blocked/seized wash motor or a broken wire somewhere from the timer to the motor. either will mean a stripdown. try checking out the motor first.

SOURCE: jenn_air model #JD8910AWS won't drain

I was having the following symptoms: If I hit the drain button, it would stay at 2 minutes and just click on and off. If I hit the rinse button, it would rinse all 9 minutes OK. It would always stick in the middle of a full cycle and just start clicking.
I just fixed it. I shut off the circuit breaker, opened the door up (all torx screws from inside of door) to get the the upper controls. One lead (of two) of a capacitor (square blue component) had actually worked itself out of the control board. I cleaned it up and resoldered it in. All better now - for now.

SOURCE: Dishwasher is noisey when the pump is starts to pump water around

yes somthing /pice of somthing has gotten into the works;usually its a chunk of glass or small pice of plastic.no eazy way to fix.youl have to drain and go from the top down.[removing wash impeller pump cover and keep going down each time taking parts off and looking for some small hard somthing.im afraid youl end up going all the way down to the chopper/food grinder.leave the screws in the parts you take off so wont get mixed up.take your time.ive done it hundreds off times i know you can pull it off ,once.you can do it.ps you can let it run like that thru some loads to see if will grind up or clean its self out.knowing what i know i would have no problem trying that on my dish washer.and have done it a few times.hope that helps God bless, tom

It will fill but once full the motor will only spin for a few seconds then stop

IT MAY BE DUE TO A RINSE PROBLEM?

WASHER WILL NOT RINSE:
If your washer doesn't go through the washer rinse cycle, the most likely cause is the water valve. What happens is the water valve will stop letting cold water into the washer; therefore, once the washer gets to rinse it will either stop or not do anything during the whole rinse cycle.
This is because when you selected your water temperature, you selected warm/cold or hot/cold. The hot water came in and you didn't notice any problems. When it got to rinse, the cold water the cold water won't come in. Therefore, the washer does nothing.
To check the water valve, first cut the water off and remove the hoses off the back of the washer. Then one at a time point the hoses inside the washer tub and turn the water back on. If you don't have good water pressure, turn the water back off and remove the strainer that should be in one end of the hose. Inspect the strainer to see if it is stopped up, clean it and reinstall it. Now repeat this test. If you have good water pressure now, reinstall hose and your problem is fixed.
If you still don't have good water pressure, the problem is in your house plumbing and you need to call a plumber. If you had good water pressure the first time you performed the test, the water valve is bad and needs replacing.
TIMER
If your washer doesn't go through the washer rinse cycle the timer may be the problem. Sometimes the timer gets stuck in the middle of the cycle or won't turn at all. If the washer runs, but the timer doesn't turn, the timer is bad and needs replacing.
Do you have anti-flood hoses leading to the machine. If you do there is probably a loose tube in the back causing a small leak. When the hoses detect that water is still flowing after a certain amount of time due to the leak it shuts down and causes the machine to turn off during the rinse/spin cycle

Samsung Dishwasher (DMR57LFS): Error code oE. Fills...fills some more...then drains.

Samsung Dishwasher 0E Error - We had other appliances on that circuit. We believe when those appliances were turned on it created an undervoltage condition in the dishwasher, causing another sensor to send the high level error code 0E. We believe this is the problem because it only started after we added the new hot water dispenser on the same circuit. The problem went away when we leave it off for the whole dishwasher cycle. I'm guessing it could also be caused by brown-outs and other large electrical loads cycling in the same household. That's the theory anyway. The folks who sold us the dishwasher suggested turning off the breaker, to reset the computer. Good idea, but not for our particular case.

Hello

Fault with water fill (only on machines with level-controlled fill)

1. Disconnect the power to the unit

2. Remove the lower access panels and check the tray under the dishwasher (you will probably find it is full of water)

3. Use a towel or a sponge to remove the water

4. There is a float that should stop the operation of the dishwasher and run the pump if water is in this tray. Check this pump to see if it is functional

5. Test the dishwasher

6. If there are no leaks from the dishwasher into the pan, check the drain hose under the sink

7. THE DRAIN HOSE MUST RUN UP TO THE TOP OF THE UNDERSIDE OF THE COUNTERTOP THEN DOWN TO THE DRAIN. (If the hose is not set up like this, water from the sink drain will flow into the dishwasher and overfill the tray

*Faults may vary by model. Use this as a general guide.

Panel lit and motor running but will not cylce

It's almost certainly the case that something has started leaking in the bottom of the dishwasher (a seal or hose) and has filled the bottom catch pan with water. There is a float in the pan which will trip the unit into a mode where the pump turns on to flush out all the water inside the unit to avoid overflowing the pan and causing much more damage (to the subfloor and anything on lower stories or basement). As long as you have the unit turned on, the pump will run to flush out water. Until the catch pan is purged or enough water dries up.
At any rate, somebody needs to look at why the catch pan is filling up with water.

Dishwasher wont turn on or drain water

the problem is that you are having an overfill issue. You can fix this by extracting the water from the over fill pan. you will have to take the toe kick off and then take that panel off which should have 3 screws on each side and requires a 20 tork screwdriver to get it off. after that is taking off there is a wiring harness that you will see put your hand right under the wiring harness and feel in the over fill pan if there is water you will have to extract it with a sponge or a turkey baster. when you get the unit put back together then reset your unit by holding the start/stop button for 7 secs and that should fix your issue

Miele G841 Built in. Intake/Drain light on/flashing and the dishwasher just shuts down.

In the user manual there's a section on how to clean the non-return valve. It's the plastic piece under the wire below the triple filter. Why did you pull out the machine? Did you kink the drain hose? If you don't find a clogged valve, spin the impeller wheel several times. It's under the valve inside the bottom hole where the valve came out.
Now here's the important step- Reset the fault! Power off/on the unit. If the light blinks when you turn it on, Press and hold the start button 4 seconds with the door open. Find the combination of off/on buttons to press to reset the machine in the user manual.
(Note: If the machine runs continuously as soon as you pressed on the power button, then you have water under the unit in the safety pan. Call Miele for help.) Now select the normal wash cycle close the door and start it. The drain motor always runs first. This verifies to the brain how much water is inside the machine when it starts filling. The drain pump runs for half a minute. If you hear it running with no drain check the drain hose especially if it's connected to a disposal. Clean the disposal.. If it's not running at all the light will go on again before filling, call Miele. If the machine fill up with fresh water, the drain works. Watch and listen when the light comes on. Is it filling or did it start circulating? Open the door, are the baskets are dripping wet? Then it filled and circulated. If the light comes on several miutes later then call Miele.

Dishwasher fills but doesn't spray

Ron, sounds like you are not getting power to the motor or the motor itself is bad. This model has a seperate drain motor which we know is working because it drains. Now this is for a model starting with 587. If you remove the toe panel you will see the wash motor on the left. It will have a harness that you can pull off. After the dishwasher fills you want to see if you have 120V going to the motor. Check it with a meter. If you have voltage there and the wash motor is not working, either it's bad or something is stopping the impeller. If you don't have voltage there then it's a problem with the control. You would want to make sure all the harness are connected. I'm hoping your model starts with 587. Otherwise this is all for not....Catriver...post back
