Is this the saw you are talking about? A compound mitre saw?
TFO 250 Ryobi
I'm assuming you cannot lift the blade up by the handle without the whole saw coming with it. That usually means that the saw is locking into place for transportation purposes. Look at the pictures below and see if the lock pin in engaged.

Our on off switch insert is not here, so the saw will not turn on, any way to fix?

You can order the switch key alone, Ryobi part number 080009019088, or the whole switch assembly, Ryobi part number 080009019710, from aftermarket sites like www.ereplacementparts.com or you can go to the Ryobi website, www.ryobitools.com, and find a local or nearby service center that either has the parts or can get them for you.

Ryobi 7-1/4 in. laser circular saw will not turn on when it is plugged in.

Same problem with mine but I.found a guy's blog on google and he had identical problem and found the "pre travel switch," that they saw fit to put in the saw was the culprit. It's not a typical switch and has issues making contact often times (Ryobi are you listening?) He was able to take it apart and make a adj/repair (instructions he provides on blog) but who knows how long it will last? How do you unlock 10" ryobi miter saw ?

When you are facing the saw look on the right hand side in the area where the arm pivots. There will be a silver shaft with a groove just in front and slightly lower than the pivot. If you hold down slightly on the handle and pull out on this shaft it will allow the arm to lift up. Locking the arm down is reverse.

Ryobi 540A need manual runs slow/ chain too tight?

Actually, I own one of these battery operated Ryobi chain saws too. It is normal for the saw to run slow. Remember it is battery powered, not gas, so its not going to be a high rpm saw. Be patient whit it, and you'll get about 4-6 cuts per battery. I take mine camping. It sure is nice not having to listen to a two-stroke while relaxing in the woods! Dont plan on cutting lots of stuff, either, or you'll burn up the motor. This thing works great for very mild workloads.

My mitre saw wont lift up into the cutting position it seems stuk

look on the left side of the saw just past the blade there is a knob there pull it out as you hang onto the handle of the saw ,the knob is spring loaded, plus the if you dont hold onto the handle the unit will come up very fast.possible of hurting you or the saw.

Changing the saw blade on a Ryobi Mitre saw

There may be a push button type blade lock, and on many of these saws the retaining bolt for the blade is backwards threads, e.i., looking at the top of blade retaining bolt, turn it clockwise to loosen. This would normally tighten, but in the case of many of these saws, it loosens it.
