Is the ignition sparking? When you press and hold down the buttons, the ignition should be sparking at the centre electrode. At the same time when you hold the buttons down, the gas valve is manually held open to release the gas. The spark is then supposed to ignite the gas. Hold the knobs down for about 3 to 5 seconds after ignition and the gas valve will stay on. If it lights but the flame wont stay on, it could be anything from a partially blocked aeration port to a worn knob. When you push down on the knob, it is supposed to press down on an electromagnetic lock which keeps the gas valve open when the flame is burning. When the knob or shaft isn't pushing down enough, it doesn't keep the gas valve locked and the flame will go out as soon as you let the knob go.

How do you light the pilot light on the stove? Model 3627391592

Hello,

A pilot light will be found on natural gas stoves, fireplaces, clothes dryers, water heaters and furnaces. When the gas is turned off, the pilot light will go out on all of these appliances. After the gas is turned back on, you must relight the pilot light before you can use the appliance. Pilot lights are similar so if you can relight the pilot light for a gas heater you can relight the pilot light for a gas stove or any other gas appliance.

jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); Instructions Things You'll Need:

  • matches OR flashlight
  1. Locate the gas valve by following the gas line in the appliance. The gas valve will have a large red button or knob and will be easy to see and will be well marked.
  2. Check for a gas leak by smelling the area close to the gas valve. Listen carefully for escaping gas and do not attempt to light a pilot light if there is a gas leak.
  3. Hold down or press the red button or knob on the gas valve while holding a lit match in front of the opening in the gas pilot line. Continue to hold down or press the red button or knob for several seconds after the gas ignites to allow the thermocouple (the sensor for the appliance's thermostat) to heat up.
  4. Repeat step 3 if the pilot light goes out after you release the button or knob. In most cases, the pilot light goes out because the thermocouple did not have enough time to heat up, so give it a few more seconds.
  5. Make final adjustment of the gas flow to the pilot light by turning the red knob. In some cases, no adjustment other than "on" or "off" will be needed.
  6. Turn on our appliance to make sure the pilot light ignites the main gas flow. Replace any covers or close any access doors to the gas valve.
Hope this help?

Thanks for using fixya.

The fan is working bt the oven isnt getting hot

I assume you have already checked the gas supply by turning on a burner on top.

Do you smell gas when the oven first tries to light? If the flame sensor isn't picking up a fire on the oven burner within a few seconds after the igniter is supposed to start firing, it will shut off the gas valve. The first thing to check is the oven igniter. Can you hear it sparking (repeated snapping sound until main flame starts)? The sound may be drowned out by the fan, so hearing it would only verify that it's making sparks; not hearing it doesn't tell you anything unless you were able to hear it before the problem started. If you had a major spill in the oven recently, it's possible some residue made its way to the igniter or pilot flame tube and is gumming up the works.

The next items to check would be the oven gas valve and thermostat.

The pilot light has a thermocouple that allows gas to the pilot light while the flame is burning. If flame goes out it shuts gas off to the pilot jet. The thermocouple is bypassed by a switch during the initial ignition and once the thermocouple warms up after a minute or two of holding in the bypass switch, it should maintain the pilot. It seems that your thermocouple is faulty and needs to be replaced if pilot light keeps going out.

You may have low gas flow. This is tough to check but if you have a manometer you can check gas pre on the back side of the gas valve with heater off and then while it is trying to start. If you don't have a large enough meter or gas line this will often be the problem and give you the gas smell since it will feed gas but not enough to light.Good luck.

How do i light my heater pilot light? My gas was turned off temporairly but is back on and I need to relight my pilot light.

Your pilot is a spark ignition so it will start itself. You will probally need to bleed the gas line to get it to start. Do this by opening the union outside the cabinet and turn the gas on till you can smell it. Shut the gas off and tighten the union up again and let the gas clear. Then start the gas and seeif it will light at that point.

Pilot light won't ignite on a Rinnai 2000 1

The trick is that it may take a long time for the flammable portion of the gas to reach the pilot light orifice where the flame lives. This happens a lot when the pilot flame has been out for some time. There won't be a clicking sound as YOU are supposed to provide the flame - it's not like a cooking stove with such conveniences, because the pilot light is only an occasional thing to light it's rare to find an ignition source built in. I'd hate to see you spend good money when all you need to apply here is time and a flame.

DOMETIC RM 7651l HAVE POWER AND GAS TO THE FRIDGE BUT WONT START (TWO MONTHS OLD)

Igniting a Dometic gas fridge
    Electronic Ignition
    1. Open gas cylinder or pressure regulating valve
    2. Turn on Electronic ignitor switch
    3. Turn gas control knob to the MAX position, press and hold down
    4. After ignition, hold down knob for a further 15 seconds before releasing. The neon light will stop flashing
    Piezo Ignition
    1. Open gas cylinder or pressure regulating valve
    2. Turn gas control knob to the MAX position, press and hold down
    3. After approximately 10-15 seconds
press Piezo knob several times until pilot light a lit
    4. After ignition, hold down knob for a further 15 seconds before releasing
  1. Check the Pilot light is alight
  2. The flame can be controlled by aperture ©
Should no ignition occur, repeat the ignition process after 1 minute
(This could take longer than 10 seconds if the unit has been out of operation for a prolonged period or after replacing the gas cylinder. (Cause: air in the lines)
  3. Once sufficient refrigeration has been obtained in the cooling tank at the MAX position, the control knob should be turned to the MIN position by low outside temperatures or when the refrigerator is only lightly loaded respectively the ambient temperature is below +18c in order to avoid over freezing the contents.
I hope this helps you...
