It currently has a 2 pin plug going into a 3 pin plug for the power? Getting lots of shocks and am thinking of cutting off the 2 pin to allow me to wire up a brand new 3 pin plug.

Inside your device there is a broken ground wire somewhere. Find it and reattach it.

A 2 pin plug is standard on a double insulated product. If you cut this plug off, you will probably find there is no earth wire to connect anyway, so a 3 pin plug is not going to help. If you are getting shocks of it, I would suggest there is something dangerously wrong with your equipment. Get it checked before the next boot you get of it is your last!

I need help with the Onkyo TX-NR636. It cuts off as soon as I turn it on. Previously it had turned off while watching a program, however now it cuts off as soon as I turn it on. Please help!

Previously it had turned off while watching a program, however now it cuts off as soon as I turn it on. This must be over-current protection. How to check: (0)download TX-NR636 service manual which doesn't teach you how to fix over-current protection.See P.11(1)Press display and at the same time Press ON/STANDBY TWICE(2)press home(3) I (over-current)-- 25(temperature in my amp)--42(volume level in my amp)--OA(listening mode in my amp)shown.()shown may be different in your amp. For me: -___25___42___OA. In normal condition, NO WORD in left giving you this "-"__25 instead of alphabet. How to fix over-current protect.Symptoms:time taken to shut down.3 seconds (DC protect) OR immediately shut down (Over Current protect) If over-current protect do thefollowing steps(O)unplug the amp.(1)download NR636service manual.(2)open the amp metal cover.(3)measure 7 large white resistors resistance loacated next to power transistors mounted on a large heat sink with black probe touching the middle pin and red probe to first/left or third/right pin.(4)If this 3 Pins large white colour 0.22ohm x 2 resistor is open with infinity ohms ,(5)replace it and jot down this channel for example left surround faulty. Usually only 1 channel went faulty.(5a)When the white resistor didn't burn, "2 channels" were damaged due to bad soldering joint of the large white resistor, however. (5b)When this happened, time taken of shut-down due to over-current is 3 seconds NOT immediately.(6)the two large power transistors next to this white resistor 0.22 ohms x2 should also be replaced.(7)plug the amp(8)switch it on(9)if ok, troubleshooting get done(10)if not ok(11)replace ALL the components of this power amp channel except these in 11a.(11a)P.30 use left channel as an example. R6140,R6150,C6050,R6160,Q6070,R6430,L6000,R6170,R6180,D6000.(12)pre-amp section no need to check.remember if not OK, the replaced 0.22ohm x 2 resistor and 2 power transistors maybe shorted again. Check them first. If OK, replace ALL Components in this channel except 0.22 ohm x 2 and 2 transistors. 0.22 ohm x 2 means left and middle pin 0.22 ohm as well as right and middle pin also 0.22 ohm that are 2 pieces of resistors with 0.22 ohm in a large white 3 pins resistor.Remember sometimes the0.22 ohm white resistor is normal. If so, use a digital multimeter to measure the be bias transistor voltage via multimeter diode test function. You can compare the normal value,580mV to 650mV with faulty one,3.2mV. And the CE resistance is 1.8ohms only instead of 3 Mega ohms.5ec35b57-69c4-4565-931d-6050dd376171.jpgpower amp-fkn3yornxvv0r5asupq1xmgq-3-2_1.jpg

Power front panel conectors on acer 915m08

This Foxconn 915M08-G-8KS motherboard made for Acer Veriton desktop computers?

http://www.sella.co.nz/general/computers/components/motherboards/other-motherboards/b1jnj6/

Do not know what the Front Panel header pinout is.

(Front plastic part of computer tower is the Front Panel.
Area of contact pins on the motherboard, that the wires (Cables) from the Front Panel connect to, is the Front Panel header )

CAN see by clicking on - View full size image - that the Front Panel header is to the Top Left corner of the motherboard, by the CMOS battery.
(View of mobo is upside down, in relation to how it actually sits in the computer tower case)

Shows me it is just the normal two rows of contact pins used in a LOT of desktop computer mobo's. (MOtherBOard)

If it were I, I would use one of the LED lights connected to two wires, and touch across each two sets of pins.

Looking at the motherboard as it sits in the computer case, there is a row of pins on Top, and a row of pins on Bottom.

In your mind start at the LEFT side of the pins at the TOP.
Number them from Left to Right.
Example, Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

Now number the pins on the Bottom, from Left to Right,
Pins 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10.

Computer plugged into power, touch the two wires of the LED light, to Pins 1 and 2.
Computer doesn't start? (Power Supply turns on)
Go to the next set of pins.

I am willing to bet Pins 5 and 6 turn the Power Supply on.
No? Keep experimenting.

What will happen if you touch the WRONG pins?
N-O-T-H-I-N-G
You will NOT hurt the motherboard.

When you get to the correct pins, the Power Supply will turn on.
These pins are for the Power On switch.

Now go back through the pins with the Power Supply on, but DO NOT touch the pins that turned the Power Supply on.

When the LED light STAYS on, you have the pins for the Power On LED light.

If the LED light BLINKS, you have the HarDDrive activity LED light.

If Windows starts to load, and you touch the Restart switch pins, the computer will restart over again, and Windows will load again.

(IF this computer has a Restart switch. I do NOT use one, even for the older computers. Just press CTRL, ALT, and DELete keys at the SAME TIME, to restart the computer, or use the Task Manager option)

One pin left all by itself? That is for 5 Volts, and only used by the factory. Leave it unconnected.

There may also be a blank spot on the Front Panel header, where it looks like a pin is missing. This is the KEY pin, and is not used.
It is just to orient where the other pins are.

Worried about getting shocked?
There may be a small spark, as you connect the wires, I will gramnt you that.
But the voltage is 5 VOLTS DC.
In comparison two D cell flashlight batteries produce 3 VOLTS DC.

The harmful AC voltage is contained in the metal enclosure, of the Power Supply. Can't get you unless you pour water on it close up, or stick a metal rod through one of the ventilation holes, in the Power Supply enclosure.

joecoolvette

By the by. You could be a lot of people's hero, if you came back, and posted the pins for what they do. Post in a Comment.

I don't know why but whenever I'm connecting the power cable with laptop I'm getting shocked from metal parts of the laptop. Is it any kind of earthing problem? Please help me before my laptop...

Yes you are correct. It is because of earthing issue. Laptop has 3 pins out of which 1 is Earthing, 2 is positive and 3 is negative. Out of 3 pins, 2 pins will function properly however for Earthing, it is necessary to have some arrangement at your place.

Please get earthing solution implemented and then plug the laptop power cord into power socket. Else you will face the shock and it may happen that your laptop's internal part may get damaged.

Thanks,
Amar

Hi I have a 2001 Honda shadow ACE motorbike. There are 3 yellow wires going from the alternator to the voltage regulator through a 3 pronged plug. They have become very hot and fried themselves at...

3) there may be damage that has caused this
2)doesnt matter which yellow wire
1)maybe fried regulator or stator coils or aged insulation which has allowed a short between windings

The three wires are the 3 poles of the stator windings,

Fix the wires and plug first(electronics shops will have suitable 3 or 4 pin plugs to use)
get a multi meter and check resistance, any pair should have same resistance, non should short to ground.
with the bike running they will produce AC current (maybe 50-60vAC)again any pair.
If you are getting good AC voltace, then put the meter across the battery 12vDC engine stopped should rise to 14 vDC (about) when engine revved to 3000rpm

No AC -new stator
No DC-new regulator
Note voltages are estimates, many bikes run very similar charging systems

Samsung dvd player + amplifier, when touched on the body its getting shock.current. it has 3 pin plug & i have proper earthing at home.

You need to go to your hardware store and purchase a ground fault testor (they cost about 10 dollars) this will tell you if you have problem with your wiring in the house. This may also be a problem inside the device, as most devices these days are isoltated from ground, what may have happened is that something inside the unit is pinched against the case and causing current to flow through it THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITON, do not use the unit till this is resolved. First step is to insure that your house wiring is ok.

Fuel injectors won't open

Wow! an '82. Nifty. Yes, it could be a grounding problem. The older systems used injectors that draw a lot of current. Especially check grounding between the fuel 'computer' box and the engine. Physically/visually check terminals or use a light bulb tester. A volt-ohmmeter is not reliable when checking high current circuits because it doesn't demand high current flow.

I saw the exact type of thing on an older BMW not long ago.

If you have access to the 8 pin plug and have a voltage tester check each pin with the ignition on. Once you have found the pins that have voltage see which one goes off w/ign. and which one does not. The one that goes off cut it about 2-3 inches from the plug and cap the end of the wire that was going to the plug. With the wire from the plug remove 1/2 inch or so of the insullation and find the pin that did not go off w/ign and skin that wire back about 1/2 inch and apply the other wire and tape up. this should do it.

Maxtor one touch 2 300gig wont switch on

Yes, this is a known Maxtor issue. They draw a lot of current, hence the 2 usb connectors. Devices that pull a lot of current need good connections.

Yes, the electronics inside the drive can go bad and they can be sent in for repair. Before doing that, though, try the following:

Make sure that the drive is plugged into usb ports that connect _directly_ to the motherboard (the ones one the back of the computer). Also, try to use usb 2.x ports instead of usb1.x

Try plugging the drive into another computer.
