Question about Diesel Garden
Check your radiator for clogging. The air flow can become restricted with dirt and trash over time causing them to over heat. Also make sure the air path path is clear of debris., your cooling fan, water pump and its drive belt are all good.
I have had clean my JD 650 radiator several times over the years because this very reason.

Testimonial: "This is exactly what I did and found the clutch safety switch was sticking closed. Thanks a lot for your suggestion and help."
I do not believe there is a manual available to the public for troubleshooting, however, you have at least 3 switches to tell the mower to stop when blades are engaged or clutch pedal released.
mower engage switch
The pedal and mower lever switches are identical, and have two sides, one for starting, one for blades turning. One side can fail. The pedal switch is on the frame very close to the pivot point of the pedal/shaft. The mower switch will be under the dash close to the bottom of the lever.
1) Locate and inspect the switches for broken or pinch wires, switch housing, or loose mounting, and how each lever or pedal engages the swtich.
2) This is a picture of the wiring so that you can get a better idea of location.

Sounds to me as tho it might need a carburetor adjustment, providing there is an adjustment screw on the carb. Sounds like the engine is running a bit lean. Did this problem occur right after the carb cleaning, or was it there in advance? Is there a fuel filter that might be clogged?

Yes, there is a switch on the dash. It operates an electric PTO or clutch for the mower blades. That is how most lawn tractors work. Of course , yours could be different, but if it is, It still has a clutch somewhere and a lever to engage the blades. Most of the electric ones are controlled by safety switches, One being in the seat, if you are not in the seat, it will not connect, if you get out of the seat with it running, the engine will cut off. Sometimes one is on the mowing deck, it will not connect if the deck is up. If you cannot get the PTO to work, it could be shot. (Rare) You can hear it go when it starts, check it out, hope this helps.
