Hi Willie,
Your TV is a plasma tv and there is no extra back light in plasma TVs. RGB pixels emit light when the required voltage is applied to them.
If you want to know more and deeper about it, please let me know, I will give you the references.

Samsung LCD TV backlight switched off

Most likely you will need to get a diagnoses done on the set. It could be a faulty 24vdc circuit (power supply capacitors), defective inverter, or a failing CCFL backlamp.

Samsung LN46C650 backlight and sound work but it doesn't show the picture.

A lot of different things can be bad here, from a cable that was not connected in the first place (I've seen that in a returned and subsequently liquidated brand new TV) to bad LCD controller to bad main board.

There's really no telling, but you know where to look at...start with cable connections , then the T-CON board and finally the main board.

There aren't many alternatives left...well, technically it can be the display itself, especially if has gone through a stage of being all white at some point.

Severe crackling during recording

.i assume the crackle you'r getting it when you are using the built in mics? i;m still in the process of troubleshooting my 2g but this is what I've got so far....the line in dosn't suffer from the crackel, so it cracked here open , didn't see any obvious problems on the board so i disconnected the black wire from one of the built in mics and this is what i found: odd and strange..... the crackle went away but i haven't tested that in depth yet 2. when recording it looked like i was getting some thing on both tracks odd.. thought 1 channel would be dead. anyway i got tired and put it away and haven't gotten back to it yet but about time i did so hopefully this weekend . hopefully i'll have some more useful info.. now a note on my take so fare as to where the crackle is coming from , bear in mind i've only had about 3 hours with the 2g so far so still getting acquainted. i'm getting the feeling it might be associated with the ACG or the record level auto calibration or clipping etc.. because i noticed that it seems like its starting ,checking levels, and setting things the a spike and it resets and starts over again. how ever the pattern is to random from what I've seen so far to to be anything concrete

Standby light blinks 13 times

13 blinks is backlight error.. can be 1 of 2 things, 1st bad inverter board (on left side panel looking from back) it has several plug ins to the panel as it supplies voltage to the backlights.2nd could be panel itself as backlights are built into it they can't be replaced. Inverter is probably around $200 +labor, panel= buy new tv... they are outrageously expensive. Good luck!

Very Dim display

If you have tried all the usual adjustments (brightness etc), then the inverter board or the backlight itself is bad.

It's pretty hard to tell which one it could be, given as they are both related (the inverter board powers the backlight)

I had that happen to a few 192N's, and it was a bad inverter board in both cases.
