I understand that you don't need to "activate" USB mouse. Turn off your computer., plug in a USB port and turn your computer on. I just don't know it it is compatible with USB3.0 Just some days ago I conected a Microsoft USB mouse to my USB 3.0 port and it didn't wor so reconnected it to USB2.0. Port USB3.0 is 100% ok!

Hi Tony,
It appears that you have an IBM desktop whose BIOS isn't capable of booting off of a USB keyboard and mouse device. Older computers used to require that a PS2 mouse and keyboard be attached before booting, to prevent you from booting a machine without any way of controlling it. You have 3 options:

1. leave the corded mouse and keyboard attached and never use them
2. update the BIOS for your desktop to the newest one in hopes that the updated BIOS will allow for USB mouse and keyboard operation
3. go to a computer store and get a PS2 to USB converter/adapter. They're small and relatively inexpensive. It plugs into the PS2 port, and makes your computer think that there's a PS2 device connected, when it's actually a USB device.

I am still learning about this mouse since there were ZERO directions.
There is a button on the Dongle and the bottom of the mouse that apparently have to be pressed at the same time to activate it. As well, the batteries don't last very long. Some say you can use rechargeable batteries; recharge batteries with USB cord plugged in. I haven't discovered what the button below the scroll button does..Good luck.

Freezes up often. USB comes on says its malfunctioning. Anything I can do this mouse isnt that old

I see this caused a lot of the time by a bad wire within the cord. If you are good with soldering and circuit boards you can replace the cord. But getting a new cord is the fun part, you can usually take it out of another device. Sometimes for a temp fix, you can find where the cord is broken and twist n turn it just right to make it work again, then finding a way to make the cord stay that way. With most breaks in the cord happening right where it meet the mouse, you can sometimes push the cord further into the mouse and get a few more months out of the mouse.

I personally just replace the device when I know it is a cord problem, saves a lot of time, trouble and frustration. I always buy the same model of mouse and it runs around $60+, I use my old devices to repair the newer ones when something goes awry...if permitting.

So my advice is to just buy a new mouse, you can get them for under $10 depending on what you choose to buy.

My desktop will not connect to my mouse. Have tried 3 mouses and 3 different connections. How do I use the keyboard to check mouse settings?

Are you using wireless mouse?
If you have reinstalled the chipset drivers and tried differant mouse, the only option left is to reinstall the OS.

Let me know

My cord on my razer copperhead mouse is broken

Gaming mice are not cheap, sell for $30 - 130. The cord on my RAZER DIAMONDBACK mouse went bad, I opened the mouse & repaired the broken wires. You have to unplug cord from inside mouse, the connection plug has very small barbs,so you have to pry the socket open a bit to unplug it.Once the cord is out cut the rubber part on the cord that connects to mouse that reinforces the cord.Cut it off on both side, pull out the remaining bits of wire. You have to enlarge the hole in the rubber grommet to reinsert the cord threw it,a heated wire the size of the cord works well to enlarge the hole.Run cord thew grommet splice wires, solder wires if you have a soldering iron makes the best repair, splice wires offset from each other,so they are not all sliced at same location.Use a good tape to isulate the spliced area on each wire, about 1/2 of tape per splice,Scotch Super 33+ Premium Vinyl Electrical Tape. Once you have taped each wire, tape all the wires together, for better isulation.Reinslall wire harness & test mouse.

Activating COT2 wireless mouse

Your ACME COT2 wireless mouse must have come in two pieces, the USB connector the mouse itself.
Insert the USB connector of your wireless mouse to your Toshiba Satellite and press simultaneously the button in your USB connector and the button in the wireless mouse. This is done in order to pair the mouse to the USB connector.

System turns on however hard drive will not cycle nor will mouse or key board activate

Turn power off and unplug power from computer.
Unplug printers,backup drives and speakers.
Open case and unplug power supply from the board.
plug power cord back in press the power button.
Of course nothing will happen.
unplug power cord again.
plug power supply back into the board.
plug power cord backup and press power switch.
If nothing happens unplug power cord again.
pull out your memory sticks and plug cord back in and press power button.
Of course not much will happen.
But really something is happening to your computer so continue.
Pull power cord and replace memory sticks.
replace power cord and press power switch.
Continue this pulling out pci cards one at a time until you find out what the problem might be.
Try different keyboards and mice too.
Good Luck

Microsoft wireless 4000

Screen saver mode, as you know, is entered when the computer senses no activity (including mouse) for a defined period of time. for some reason, the computer thinks there's been some kind of activity. If you have an extreamly sensitive mouse, vibrations could be being picked up "tricking" the computer into thinking there is activity.

The other possibility is that the computer might not be able to respond to the mouse if it went into screen saver mode (perhaps a preference setting with the wireless mouse) and has decided that while operating using a wireless mouse screen saver will be deactivated. Look into your preferences or settings relating to the wireless mouse.
