No sound from Kitsound Ovation soundbar

We have a Samsung TV and Sky HD box which we are trying to connect to this soundbar, we have picture but no sound. Previously the connections we had were HDMI lead from TV to switch box output and HDMI's from the switch box inputs to Sky HD box and Apple TV. HDMI lead from Samsung BluRay/Surround Sound to TV. We also had optical connections from the Surround Sound to the Sky box and the Apple TV. We have now purchased the soundbar due to fluctuating sound levels with the surround sound. We have moved the HDMI and optical cables from the surround sound and connected to the soundbar but we have picture and no sound. The TV has two HDMI ports Sky has one HDMI and one optical Soundbar has one HDMI in and two HDMI out and one optical The Switch box has one output and three inputs Does anyone have any ideas as I have searched the internet and cannot find out the answer Thanks

SOURCE: I have an LG TV

Hello,
There are two things that I can suggest.
1-Test your optical cables to make sure they a good on a known working source because they are very fragile and break very easily.
2-Try to eliminate the use of optical output from tv to receiver. There may be a problem from the HDMI to optical conversion at the tv. Instead, try running the audio directly from the source to the receiver, and let the tv deal with video input only.
Hope this helps,
Good Luck.

I have a lg 2540 soundbar connected to my 37inch lg tv. Soundbar works fine on all channels, with the exception of all the HD ones. My tv is connected to a Humax satellite box. Any ideas please.

Maybe the HD channels do not support showing the sound bar via a satellite box connection. Call the manufacturer of the box and inquire with them.

How to connect soundbar to a TV with a skybox

Connect the soundbar either to the TV's optical output. Or use an Optical to stereo phono/RCA converter box and then a pair of stereo phono cables (red & white) to the soundbar.

If it's a very basic soundbar with just a headphone jack input then you can go from the TV's headphone output instead.

As for the Sky box, just leave it connected via either an AV lead or better still a HDMI cable direct to the TV. The TV will send sound out to the soundbar.

Panasonic TX P50V10B Plasma TV

In order to get any of the Freesat channels, you need to connect a Satellite dish to your TV. If you have a Sky dish, you simply need to run an extra Cable from the LNB from the dish and connect to your socket on the back of your TV.
In order to get Freeview channels and Analogue channels, you need to connect a aerial to the back of the TV.
There is a menu option for the TV to start straight to the AV input (your Sky HD box). It is Menu > Setup > Other Settings > Power on Preference. Select 'AV' for your TV to start on Sky HD.
Also even if you have your TV to start on TV, when you turn on your Sky HD box, it should automatically switch to the Sky box.

HOW TO CONNECT SAMSUNG 40 LCD TV TO SAMSUNG SURROUND TZ215 THRUGH SKY + HD BOX.

you will need the following = HDMI LEAD
Optical Audio Lead
Red and White phono Lead

Sky HD Box > connect to Tv via HDMI Lead.

Sky HD box > Connect the optical Audio, and the Phono Leads To your Surrounds sound.

The reason I am wanting you to connect the phono's as well as the optical audio out. Not all programs are transmitted with Dolby D so you will need these for normal sound to come through your surround sound.

One last thing I would like you to check is the sound settings on your Hd box.

OLD PROGRAM GUIDE:
On your sky remote. Press SERVICES, 4, 2, then ensure that Dolby D is displayed if not highlight and using the blue button change this to Dolby D. then arrow down to save.

NEW PROGRAM GUIDE:
On your sky remote. Press SERVICES, 0, Arrow along to SOUND then arrow down and change this to DOLBY D Then press the GREEN button.

Hope this Helps you out. IF so please leave a thumbs up

Samsung le40a lcd - picture quality

Hi - I have some suggestions. The following factors effect picture quality:
1. Source (because LCD TVs have much higher picture quality than traditional CRT "Tube" TVs, the worse your source material, the worse it looks on a LCD TV).
DVD and Sky/Digital TV should look excellent on this TV when connected with a good quality Scart lead (nothing too expensive, but a Oxygen Free Copper Gold lead may help) directly into one of the TV's Scart inputs (avoid using "switching" boxes for multiple equipment).
Also, bear in mind that this is a HUGE screen (40 inches I think) and will REALLY show up bad source material.
The best advice I can give is, if you have HD-ready equipment use HDMI connections for everything (ideally with an HD-uplscaling DVD player which will "improve" the quality of standard DVDs on the TV - I recommend models by Philips) and check that you are in "Movie" or "Cinema" mode on the TV.
Make sure that all of your equipment, like your Sky digibox, is set to 16:9 mode (not 4:3) aswell to preserve the true widescreen aspect ratio.
Hope that helps!

I hvae just purchased a Samsung HXT 30 sound system and connected it to the tv anbd sky hd box how do I get sound from the tv it would appear it is a problem what cables do I need I have aq HDMI from the...

You need to run a cable from your Sky (satellite box) box's 'Audio Out' jacks to the sound system's 'Audio in' jacks. Make sure the Sound system is set on the same function as where you plugged in the cables (RCA type, red & white) on the back of the sound system. (example: if you used the 'Auxilliary' jacks, set the sound system on 'Aux')

If it's sound 'from' the TV as well as the sound system you'll need to connect another set (of red & white RCA) cables from the Sound System's 'Audio Out' jacks to the Television's 'Audio In' jacks. This should give you sound from both the TV's speakers and the Sound System. Good Luck!

Probem getting sky to work with a new TV

An HD TV connects in the same way as a standard TV.

Connect a scart lead from the TV scart of the Sky box to the TV.

When you switch on the Sky box it should automatically switch the TV to the correct external input.
