Question about Toshiba Televison & Video
It is more than likely that you have a defective inverter module in your television. Before ordering a part like this you should first examine the power supply module, look for capacitors with swollen tops.
Most often you will find a very small fuse link on the inverter mkodule has opened or failed. I recommend finding the part number from the inverter module before ordering the part. Check this site for an image of the part. http://www.shopjimmy.com/cmo-27-d026774-backlight-inverter.htm

Thee TV is defect. Nothing can change that. If it has to do with the power supply, main board, or just a bad connection is less relevant, it is nothing you can solve with the menu or with a reset. If some tapping on the TV (NOT ON THE SCREEN!!) can manage to bring back the picture, if only for a few seconds it could be it is a bad connection or a corroded connection. Still to get that right, you need a tech to open and diagnose what is wrong. Before asking someone to repair, ask what it will cost and check what a new TV that size costs now close to you. Then decide what to do, repair or new. New ones use less power and have sharper pictures.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

SOURCE: No picture, just sound
No new video card required. I just reset the television by holding the on/off button for five seconds (yellow light on front panel blinks repeatedly). I then cycled power using the remote control and my picture came back. Worked for me. Hope it works for you.

I had the same problem last night - sound but no picture form any of the inputs - DVD, VCR, FIOS or antenna. I could still see the TV menu. If you go to the TV menu - you can go to the settings (far right top), from there you can choose to restore factory settings, usually needs a code - 0000 (if you did not choose a different one), select yes when prompted if you want to restore factory defaults. This brought my picture back. I lost all of my picture preferences i had set - but at least I got a picture! I hope this helps!!

Heard back from Toshiba. They said to unplug the TV, wait at least 3 minutes, and then plug it back in. This should allow it to reset itself. Sounded too simple, but after doing just that the tv has worked fine for the last three days! Toshiba noted that if this didn't resolve the problem we should contact them to have a Toshiba Authorized service person come check out the tv. It worked for us, hopefully it'll work for you too. Good Luck
