SOURCE: coleman lantern fan am/fm radio

This fan/lantern/radio was sold under numerous name brands, and is supposed to come with not only a wall wart, (plug in power supply) but it should have also included a 12VDC cigar lighter cord so it can be charged in your car/truck/SUV, etc. The included car adapter is not a standard variety. It has a special resistor inside the plug that limits the amount of charging current. This is very important. Too much current, and the battery could overheat and be rendered useless, or worse, it could literally explode inside the lantern housing. Your best bet is to locate a universal supply, and set it for 7.5 or 8 VDC maximum, and the plug polarity should be what is called "tip positive" Don't assume that an aftermarket wall wart is "tip positive" check it with a volt meter if you have one available to you. If not, ask your friends, neighbors, or call a local Amateur Radio club and ask if there is someone who would be willing to check for the proper voltage and polarity before you try it. It is a very simple check and I'm sure that they will be happy to assist you. As an aside, there is a little compartment in the bottom of the lantern. Mine came with a small emergency kit with a band-aid or two, monofilament line, a hook, and two matchbook type matches. Very odd, but it was a nice touch. God luck, and have fun with your fan.

How do I preset the tuner for radio stations. I've never had a problem doing this with any other stereo. But what I think should work isn't!

Not very specific. Do you have the manual?

The following is from a VSX-03TXH manual. It ain't pretty but it may help.

I'm posting it in multiple parts due to space contraints.

Chapter 6:

Using the tuner

Listening to the radio

The following steps show you how to tune in to FM and

AM radio broadcasts using the automatic (search) and

manual (step) tuning functions. If you already know the

frequency of the station you want, see Tuning directly to a

station below. Once you are tuned to a station you can

memorize the frequency for recall later-see Saving

station presets below for more on how to do this.

1 Press the FM/AM button to select the tuner.

2 Use the FM/AM button to change the band (FM or

AM), if necessary.

Each press switches the band between FM and AM.

3 Tune to a station.

There are three ways to do this:

Automatic tuning

To search for stations in the currently selected band,

press and hold TUNE ?©/?? for about a second. The

receiver will start searching for the next station,

stopping when it has found one. Repeat to search for

other stations.

Manual tuning

To change the frequency one step at a time, press

TUNE ?©/??.

High speed tuning

Press and hold TUNE ?©/?? for high speed tuning.

Release the button at the frequency you want.

Improving FM stereo sound

If the TUNED or STEREO indicators don't light when

tuning to an FM station because the signal is weak, press

the MPX button to switch the receiver into mono

reception mode. This should improve the sound quality

and allow you to enjoy the broadcast.

Using Neural THX

This feature uses Neural Surround™, THX® technology to

achieve optimal surround sound from FM radio.

• While listening to FM radio, press AUTO/DIRECT for
Neural THX listening.

My Grundig Satellit 700 Radio is not working on FM Band but is working well on AM and Shortwave Band. After pressing ON/OFF button and FM/RDS-AF button when we try to operate the FM Band of this radio...

As a side note, most AM/FM radios use a separate antenna for each band, thus why you can pick up AM but not FM. Check your mast antenna connections to make sure they are solid and not missing or loose.

What is the FM radio frequency to use the Hannah Montana Wireless Microphone?

FM 99.7 works best.... However if you have a local FM station using that freq your out of luck UNLESS your handy with a Jewelers screwdriver. Calling tech support will get you a "sorry" but there is nothing we can do. So if you are one of the unlucky ones with a Local 99.7 FM station here is what you can do.

1) Find a dead spot on the FM radio band either at the very low end or high end of the range. You should hear just fuzz (white noise) on your radio. However, on many newer FM tuners if there is no station broadcast there is nothing but silence.
2) Put batteries in the microphone.
3) Get a really really tiny flat head (Jewelers)screwdriver just like the kind in those eye glass kits they sell at the grocery store.
4) Sit right in front of the radio
5) Insert the screwdriver into the tiny hole in the microphone and tune the microphone until the radio goes quiet (no fuzz sound). Or.... you can keep pressing S to hear a beat and the beat is acutally heard through the speakers.

The hole is located just to the left of the screw that you undid to get at the battery compartment, but it's off center. Inside this hole is a small tuning screw. Slowly, slowly, SLOWLY turn the screw driver until you here a change or interruption in the fuzz sound on the radio speakers. This will indicate you found a compatible frequency. Then even slower - tune back to that "notch" until you hear nothing but silence on the radio. Test it by pressing the applause button "A" or by pressing the mic "M" button and talking.

There are multiple places on the FM dial that will "work" as you tune the little screw but you should have already manually selected where (the FM freq) you want to use your mic.

Once it's working it ain't perfect. I doubt you'd do a serious performance on it, but the kids love it.
The mic quality is not top notch for sure.

Fine tune as necessary....

No am radio but fm works fine

I don't know why you need AM, but that's not the issue.
If you have FM and HEAR it ok, then everything is fine. You've hooked it up right.
Not being able to find AM, is in the new radio.
You need to look to see how to tune to AM.
Maybe the paperwork that came with it!
