Reset vo-9850

This is usually caused by frayed wires in the cassette carriage. There is a bundle of colored wires that take the sensor outputs to the harness from the carriage. After many loads, they eventually break and need replacing. They are brown, red, orange and yellow from memory in a bundle of four, about 2 inches long and are soldered at each end to small circuit boards at the back right hand side of the cassette carriage (assuming you are standing at the front of the machine).
Otherwise you could have a dusty or faulty opto-coupler in the carriage. Another problem is when the cassette slips back when loading starts. Try keeping a finger on the back of the cassette as it loads into the machine to keep it engaged. Don't jam your finger, as soon as the tape goes forward enough and then begins to drop down, get the hell out of there!

I had this same problem and tried everything (I thought) to fix it. Then I saw the solution at:
http://www.retrevo.com/c/sohohelp/blogs/show/6633/I-just-had-my-espon-artisan-800-replaced-and-the-refurb-keeps-saying-that-the-paper-cassette-is-not-seated-correctly#replyForm

Basically there is a plastic pin that tends to break off and stays in the area where the cassette is loaded. It takes up just enough space to keep the cassette from being pushed in all the way. The solution is to turn the printer off, unplug it, then lift up the printer so the broken pin falls out. Once it comes out, the printer will work fine again.

Pulling the lever on the right of the cassette should move the ribbon drive spindle out of the cassette and leave it free to remove, but sometimes the ribbon can become twisted on to the drive spindle and it won't disengage. If that has happened you will have to break open the cassette to free the spindle.

Audio compact cassette where is tab

Stand the cassette on the table with the line of tape at the bottom. At both ends of the top edge you will see a small recess. If the tabs are missing you have just 2 square holes. If the cassette is recordable then plastic tabs will protrude from one side of the hole but not joined on 3 side. To make a recordable cassette unrecordable simply break out the tabs. If you wish to make a cassette recordable which has these tabs missing just cover the hole with a piece of cellotape.

My Sony CFD SO1 keeps skipping/display light keeps flashing

That is an electronic problem. Probably a just-about-to-break cable in the motor of the CD drive, that sometimes causes a short and turns off the unit, or sometimes makes it to comport erratically and produce the buzzy sound. If you have electronics knowledge, then you may open and check the wiring harnesses. If don't, take it to your local electronics repair.

did the error code start with the tape getting stuck? i have heard that if you disconnect the battery for 5-10 minutes it will reset the radio but make sure you have a code for it to unlock it it the radio has security. they say it starts working again if you do this. again this is just what i have heard a toyota tech say when i worked there. it may be that it knows it has a problem with the tape and keeps it inop, as far as getting the tape out, it either breaks the tape or the tape player or both. i worked at a car stereo shop for 10 years and very rare for both to survive.

My record button won't go down. How can I fix it?

This is normal if the cassette tape has a broken tab. Try a different cassette or inspect the cassette to ensure that the write protect tab is not removed. where to look? On the cassette opposite side to where the tape is there are two possible places, each on the side of the cassette case. The broken tab is a feature that prevents accidental recording over an existing program. It also stops the record button from being pushed. The tab is a plastic part that is easy to break with a pen tip.

MX2, it displays the following: "remove the cassette" or eject. I thought it was a condensation problem but all attempts failed, please help me.

On Canon camcorders, "remove the tape" error is due to no data reading by video head. You may have clogged heads or somewhere along the area. Initially, I would try to insert good clean "video head cleaning tape" and run for about 7 seconds and see if that resolve the symptom. If it persists, it need a help from a technician. Good Luck. Panasonic dv camcorder keep havin

This error indicates a cassette mechanism malfunction.
It happens usually when you don't operate the camecorder for long time leaving the cassette inside and the battery attached.
Solution:
1.
Open the cassette housing and nock GENTLY with your finger tip
on the cassette cabinet (particularly on the position marked "push") until
the cassette is released.
2.
Push on the right place (marked "push") to close and then close the
cassette housing.
3.
Operate the cassette (play, fast forward/backward).
Repeat the above steps several times until the problem is gone.
Advise: Remove the battery and cassette when leaving the camecorder for long period without being operated, and store the camcorder in a dust/humidity protected place.
Hope this can help.
