Your laptop needs to be told to send the picture to the TV. On my laptop, it is done by holding the 'fn' key, and clicking the f4 key. Yours may use f5 or some other key.

I have a dell studio 1558 laptop, suddenly while using the laptop the screen for blank so i did a hard shutdown. After that i tried starting my laptop, but there was only blank screen. I attached my...

Seems like a two fold issue here. The blank screen is possibly a faulty laptop display or inverter but the blue screen is caused by powering off the laptop whilst it was doing something and now has damaged files. With your external monitor connected power up and try to reach Safe Mode and let windows find the issue and attempt a repair or press F8 and select repair OS. When you have repaired the OS, shine a bright light at the laptop screen and see if the inverter is not running or a dead screen.

Power up but sreen wont come on

Try connecting an external monitor to the blue D shaped plug on your laptop. If you boot up and the screen appears on the external display., you have a failed backlight or cable on you laptop screen.

Need to replace screen

You can connect a second LCD screen to your laptop.
The video cable from the monitor connects to the Blue connector on the laptop.
now go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display\Screen Resolution
Select duplicate display settings.
It should display what is on your laptop screen to the monitor

Blue Screen

please remove battery and ac-power for a couple of minutes and then try to reboot the computer.

if it still doesnt work, shut it down, remove battery and ac.
remove ram
connect ac-power
try to boot without ram
remove ac power
insert ram
insert battery
connect ac and try to boot again.

when the blue screen appear, please write down the top line that looks something similar to this:

IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL_ETC_ETC

and the line close to the bottom that says

STOP: 0x000021 (0x000+++alot of not needed numbers)

when you have done that please come back to me.

Hp pavilion f1703 blue monitor power button flashesw/ dark screen

Have you tried connecting this monitor to another computer, even a laptop. This would tell you whether the display is bad or the video card is the culprit. I suspect the monitor's power supply is dying. Taking it to a pro for repair should cost @55.00. Buying a new monitor @ $100 - $125.
