Overclock can be done by setting fsb higher by percentage to speed up cpu frequency by percentage. But some cpu can not be overclocked and may overheat and shut down. And some drams can not be changed to higher fsb.

Hi there, your first going to need better cooling for your cpu like a aftermarket cooler and then go into the bios and raise the cpu multiplier and cpu voltage bit by bit

Im trying to decide what video card to get with this mother im a huge gamer and i play all games from CoD4 to wow. also does this board already come factory overclocked? how do i configure overclocking ?

motherboards do not come overclocked, unless you bought it from a person that has already done that. For overclocking, you go into the BIOS but make sure you have adequate cooling in your machine. When you overclock you want the CPU cooler fan to blow away from the CPU instead of onto it. Also you want more fans blowing out the rear of the case if you have one intake fan in the front, two in the rear/side panel. Overclocking causes more heat, and shortens CPU lifetime. I believe you press F2 at boot to get into BIOS on your motherboard. in the BIOS settings you can change the multiplier, but if it doesn't add up correctly, your computer will just hang instead of boot and try a different setting. Although this mobo supports Hyper-Threading and supports Untied Overclocking Technology, so it should be simpler to overclock rather than some mobos are tricky to get it going right.

As for the graphics card with this board: it's an Intel processor so you need a graphics card made by ATI. I would recommend a Radeon graphics card with this motherboard. The motherboard is compatible with Front Side Bus 1600/1333MHz CPUs, so make sure your Graphics card you select doesn't have a FSB faster than that, otherwise you will be wasting money.

HOW TO OVERCLOCK LAPTOP TO BOOST SPEED?

Overclocking on computers is done via the BIOS, if the BIOS on the computer supports it. The T23 hasn't got this ability.
Late model desktop computers have this capability with Gigabyte motherboards as well as other makes, overclocking will generate greater heat problems and additional CPU cooling may be requires.

Upgrading the CPU

overclocking is adjusting the speed of which a cpu works at (processor = cpu) replacing a cpu is not overclocking and wont cause any problems aslong as the cpu is ment for the motherboard and is supported. depending on the motherboard you may not be able to place in a 800MHZ cpu, but if you find one that fits and works on your model sure go ahead, it wont cause any problems, other than possibly overheating if the cooling is designed for a slower processor.

I need a manual to download for a Gigabyte 81PE1000 motherboard. Also would like to know settings to boost speed and performance on the mobo. Thanks, Mack E.

Hi again Mac!

Good, now i will give you the manual:)
http://america.giga-byte.com/FileList/Manual/motherboard_manual_8ig1000p_e.pdf

And here is the support site for the mobo, you may need some drivers or so
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/Manual_Model.aspx?ProductID=1654

To run it faster you may look in to some forums how to overclock the cpu and the gpu. There arent many settings you can do in the bios to get it faster, the speed is almost all about the hardware

Good luck M8!

Overclocking

You have to go into the BIOS setup
and change the Multiplier and bus speed.
If you do only change one at a time and in small Increments rebooting each time
Does your computer do what you want it to do. If so leave it alone as one bad setting in BIOS can stuff your CPU up

Links to overclocking tools

Software tools only work if you have a motherboard chipset which supports them. If you have an nVidia nForce chipset, I recommend nTune. If you have something else, check with the manufacturer of the motherboard and they may be able to recommend a program which can overclock for you.

As a rule I do not recommend overclocking blindly. If you do overclock, make sure you do it safely and be aware that you are voiding the warranty of both your CPU and RAM (unless your memory warranty states otherwise).

Overclocking can be done safely and I recommend you keep a guide closeby when attempting it for the first and 100th times. You can find a guide in this issue of Maximum PC.
