If your printer/scale is a Hobart system, it is programed not to print the codes so the checker has to look up the info and enter it manualy. This was double check on pricing. Depending the version of PROM board, the only way to get this changed would be to install new PROM's in ALL ot your systems components. Your best bet would be to contact your local Hobart service office and discuss the matter with the service advisor.

My artisan mixer will not turn back on

Make sure it's unplugged, remove and inspect the carbon brushes one at a time under those black screws on the side. They are keyed with one corner of the square ground off so will only go in properly one way so eyes open when you take them out. If they are less than 10mm long replace them. Next would be look under the back cover for a broken wire to the black square speed control plate. Broken wires are only likely to be one of the bottom 2 on either side. Any more testing is going to require a multimeter.

I didn't receive the sausage attachment

Good morning Deborah.

The route to satisfaction will depend on the circumstance of expecting the sausage attachment. If the Mixer was supposed to have the attachment included in the same box, your best bet is to call the manufacturer help line and just say you have a missing part. Get the UPC/bar code from the box, and be ready to quote back any printing on the box like 'Includes Rock Crusher, Turnip Turner, and Sausage Attachments'. It's not all that uncommon for boxes to be mis-packed, especially if it's being done by new-hires brought on in anticipation of holiday sales volumes. Most manufacturers will be pretty cooperative in getting missing parts sent to you.

If the sausage attachment is a separate item, say included as a special deal of 'buy the mixer, get your choice of sausage maker, cheese grater, or kitchen fan attachment' and this was shipped to you, it's pretty likely that the accessory part was shipped separately, and possibly not even from the same place. Call the vendor you bought from, tell them the situation, and ask them to confirm shipping. Sometimes, a special may generate more enthusiasm than expected, so the answer might be 'um, we sold out on the sausage maker, it'll ship in 2 to 3 weeks. Some places will be proactive in contacting you about this sort of thing, others will 'notify' you by changing the response to tracking inquiries from 'shipped 2 days ago' to 'backordered'. If you bother to check.

I recommend calling over e-mailing, if possible. Make sure you ask the name, or employee number, of anyone you talk to, so that you have a record of names, responses, and such in the event you need to escalate up through supervisors or managers.

Good Luck!

How to pull out the motor apart on a model 3b because I can not pull the rest of the brush that's still inside mixer

You will need to replace the brushes once you get the stuck one out. You want to avoid pulling the motor apart if you can, I carefully drill down through the middle of the brush. Note CAREFULLY. You do not want to drill into the commutator that the brushes run against when the motor is running. Once you have your hole drilled you can try and extract it with a hooked pick type tool or with a vacuum cleaner sucking away at the outside you can break it up and it will come out in many pieces. Once you have it out clean up the brush holder with a small flat file and check that the new brush slides in and out freely. When filing be careful not to mark the commutator just beyond the inner end of the brush holder. Brushes are keyed and will only fit one way, look in the hole with a torch to see the key on one corner.

Need adapter

If you know the output current and mA, go to electronics surplus store and find one with at least the same amount of mA's, more doesn't matter, if it doesn't have the same plug that fits into Gizmo the take the right one from an adapter you don't use anymore and that has the right plug, be careful to respect the polarity. By the way if you do know what the current and mA are, I would like to know you can contact me at Thanks

How do you get into the mixer

To gain access to the gear housing you will need a small flat bladed screwdriver and a 15mm A/F hexagon bar (Allen key).
Insert the screwdriver into the small rectangular slot located at the front end of the base plate.
Insert the hexagonal bar into the recess on the base plate.
With the screwdriver, gently release the plastic retaining finger by deflecting it towards the rear of the machine at the same time turning the hexagon bar clockwise to release the bayonet locking mechanism.
The base plate can then be lifted free of the mixer body.
The retaining screw located immediately below the base plate and to the rear of the opening can be removed to enable the motor assembly to be slid rearwards BUT I haven't yet worked out how to disconnect the switch from the motor to enable complete removal.

Just stopped working, likemit was not plugged in.

The easiest thing to check is the brushes. There are two large "buttons" on the sides of the mixer. They have a large slot in them. You can use a quarter to stick in the slot and turn the button counterclockwise. Once removed you will see a spring sticking out. Now this is important. On the other end of the spring is a small carbon bar (the brush) which is square and about half an inch long. Note that there is one corner of the carbon bar, the brush, which is removed forming a flat on that corner. Note the position of the flat so that you can replace the brush in the same position. If you don't then the brush will not contact the armature and the unit will never run!

Once removed examine the end of the brush to see if there is some crud on it, most likely charred flour. Carefully scrape the crud off the brush and re-insert it remembering the above . . .make sure it slides easily into position. If it is sticky then remove it again and clean out the brass hole with a q-tip.

Do this to both brushes and the unit will most likely run.

Of course make sure the outlet you are using has power to it!

If it still doesn't run then there is a problem with the control board or the motor.

My kitchenaid mixer has a large amount of vibration when used on speed 4. So much vibration that the head pin was vibrating out of place.

If you tip the entire unit on it's side you'll find a screw holding the pin described above in place. Take a flat head screwdriver and tighten that baby up. You'll be all set.

My 20 qt. mixer has no power in speed #1.

Hi All. Since the original poster has not responded to my request for ML and spec. #'s, I'll offer a solution based on a spec.# 3943 for anyone with the same problem. This is an older model A200 with a solid aluminum gearshift lever.

Stop using the mixer!!!

The slow speed gear (1st. gear) is engaged by a "diving key". Over time this key can wear to the point of failure, or break entirely and will no longer engage. This failure only affects the first gear, allowing the second and third gears to function properly. If you can stop the mixer attachment by hand while in 1st. gear, then you have the above problem. The unit must be serviced. If the key has been sheared there is the potential for a broken piece of this key to get into the trans. grease and cause further damage to the mixer. For a Hobart Tech., this is relatively easy to repair as a minimum number of parts need to be removed in order to expose the diving key.

Call your local Hobart office to schedule a repair. If you've never done any repairs on this model, do not tackle this project by yourself. I you have some experience with this model goto the website, register for free and then download the parts list. Ensure that you have the list for the 3493 spec.

Good luck!

If anyone has been assisted by this solution, please rate it. ricardok45
