Needle placement depends on your machine. Some machines, the flat side needs to face the back of the machine. Others, the flat side may face to one side or the other. Need to check your manual. You may find something on YouTube about changing the needles on your particular machine.

Usually facing the securing screw. Check your manual. If not go online and download one. There are sites all over including the manufacturers.

Preform Needle Maintenance??

Needle maintenance is basically just removing the current needle, inserting a brand new needle, pushing it all the way up, and tightening the screw. Be sure the flat side of the needle is facing the proper direction in the machine (consult the owner's manual) or check how the current needle is installed.

I am having problems with tension and skipping stitches'

skipping stitches indicates a fault with the needle/hook timing
adjust tensions on both the needle and bobbin threads
take it in for a service.

Lower tension

adjust the top tension one letter or number at a time until the
stitch looks normal
change the needle
Correct needle insertion is mandatory for proper use of your sewing machine.
Raise the needle bar to the highest point, then loosen the needle clamp screw to remove the old needle.
Place the new needle in the needle clamp with the flat side of the needle facing the back, (round needle, the groove in the needle should face away from the shaft).
Push the needle all the way up as far as it will go. Then tighten the needle clamp screw.
make sure the bobbin is threaded correctly
make sure the bobbin is not warped
make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case
& that the bobbin case is inserted correctly in to the machine

if these suggestions don't help,, then the machine may need to have
the timing checked at a sewing machine shop

I have a BROTHER DISNEY pe770 EMBROIDERY MACHINE, THE THREAD IS BREAKING

Upper thread breaks--needle may be in backwards--

Correct needle insertion is mandatory for proper use of sewing machine.
Raise the needle bar to the highest point, then loosen the clamp screw to remove the old needle, place the new needle in the clamp with the flat side to the back of the machine or if using a round needle--the groove in the needle should face away from the shaft.
Push the needle all the way up to the stop or as far as it will go, then tighten the needle clamp screw

Needle thread won't pull bobbin through

Refer to your manual to be sure the machine is threaded properly and the needle inserted correctly - this is usually with the flat side of the needle shaft to the back of the machine.

Needle will not pick up thread from bobbin

Was the old needle picking up the bobbin thread ok? If it was, then there's nothing wrong with the machine. Check that the needle is inserted correctly--there's a flat side on the shank of the needle and where that goes varies widely by machine. Then check that it's threaded properly.

(I once had my needle in backwards and threaded wrong--took the machine to the shop cause I was sure my baby was broken. Cost me $85.00 to find out that on that particular machine the flat side of the needle faces left!)

Let me know if this helps!

Thread keeps breaking

Check the easy stuff first:
the needle is inserted in the machine properly- a good rule of thumb is the flat side of the needle should go to the opposite side of the last thread guide. Also make sure the machine is threaded correctl

Threading

Hi fullmoon. The thread is passed through the needle from front, to back. Also, to be proactive, let's ensure that your needle is inserted correctly as well. Grasp a needle between your fingers and hold it vertically, pointed side down. As you examine the the top of the needle, observe that one "side" is flat, and the other is curved. To properly insert a needle into the Needle Bar, the Flat side faces the rear of the machine. As you continue to examine the curved "side", observe that along the length of the needle, a groove is present. The purpose of this groove is for the thread to lay in, in order to accommodate the diameter of the thread, hence, not having to create a hole larger than the needle itself.....Please update your post if you need any further help....good luck my friend
