SOURCE: No sound from Bose SoundDock

I had this problem on my SoundDock. My iPod would charge on the dock just fine and when I played my iPod on the dock, it would look like it was playing, but have no sound. Since my Bose was out of warranty, this is what I did to fix it. #1 Unplug the adapter. #2 Unscrew the four large screws on the bottom of the speaker and the three small screws under the dock. #3 You'll see one long ribbon connection and one very short one. Check to see if the ribbon connector coming from the front of the speaker system came loose from the green board. You'll only be able to see 1/2 an inch of it sticking out, and it's not easy to plug it back in, but it's possible. Just take your time. #4 Carefully put everything back together being very careful not to let the ribbon fall out of the plug again. #5 Make sure to plug in the DC adapter the correct way. There's a very subtle difference, but there is a difference. There are four prongs - two are square and two have slightly rounded corners. If it's not plugged in the correct way, the dock will have a static clicking sound. On my adapter, the words "DC power" are on the top of the plug.

SOURCE: Bose Sounddock failure

You probably have a broken docking connector or bad power supply. Contact www.invebo.com to get a replacement board. It takes minutes to fit. They also sell the USB charge upgrade to enable you dock to charge the IPHONE on the Soundock original. Try the PSUif you can. The click is the PSU shorted that can be caused by a fault n the sound processor. Invebo will repair it for you too.

Where do I get my SoundDock fixed?

It could also be that the volume button has gotten stuck, misaligned and it needs to be seated back into the the right spot. If you feel comfortable in removing the bottom of the Dock connector held on by three screws, you could look and see if the volume button is stuck or maybe a little crooked. I don't believe that this is caused by a bad circuit board. If you have experienced any problems with the docking of iDevice, I would check out www.invebo.com and make sure to type in the www. For some reason it will not navigate to the website if omitted. They are an awesome company for Bose SoundDock DIY repairs or have them repair it for you. Check out the Bluetooth upgrade, if you have an iPod Touch or any device with Bluetooth, you don't have to dock the device anymore. So you have more control of what you're listening to. Anyway, I bet it's just the volume up button that is stuck, or something is stuck in the volume up bottom on the right side of dock connector. If that is not the case then INVEBO is the least expensive repair route, under 50 bucks., Bose will do an upgrade, switch out program, running you a total of around $164.00. You send them your unit, they send you a box for the return, then they send out a new unit.

Bose sounddock remote and ipod menu functions

Unfortunately I've never seen a universal remote that will control the extra functions of this. If it's the original SoundDock, you can only do: volume, power, play/pause, skip/scan. If this is a SoundDock II or SoundDock Portable, you can only control: volume, power, play/pause, skip/scan, and playlist up/ playlist down. Quite honestly, that's all I need to do on my SoundDock. I can't really read what's on my iPod from where I'm sitting in the first place. It may be possible to use a universal learning remote for this, but you'd have to teach commands from an apple remote as well as the bose remote, and the learning remote (+apple remote) may cost you over 1/3 the cost of the SoundDock. It also may not work perfectly. I hope this helps somewhat.

I let it dry out for the rest of the day and it went back to normal, thankfully.
