Question about Garden
If this is a hydrostatic transmission on a lawnmower type garden tractor some power loss is expected. That just the nature of hydrostatic transmissions.
Severe slippage may not be the transmission itself but would the drive belt. These wear out over time along with the idler pulleys; especially the plastic v-idler pulleys. As the idler pulleys wear out is the same as lengthening the drive belt to a point where it slips. Even a new belt will if these pulleys are worn enough.
