SOURCE: My Teac R-H500 tape deck will not play tapes

The belts will have failed. You will need to replace them for the deck to be reliable. If you are mechanically minded I can talk you through it... You giving me a FixYa rating will help my profile and loosen my lips on how to overhaul your deck. :)

SOURCE: Denon DRM 740 tape does not play

Hi,
I had a similar problem with A Mitsubishi cassette deck, several years ago.
The actual problem, is a sticking switch/relay/solenoid whichevers applicable in your case.
Without even opening up the casing or tampering with the Unit.
Try constant Stop/fast forward. Stop/rewind. power Off/On. You,ll find after several attempts, the deck will find it,s own stability level. and unstick whatever it is, thats jammed or seized.
As you have,nt used for a long period of time. You,ve gotta Coax it back to full functionality.

If you,ve got lots of patience, you,ll find that this will work.

Unit probably needs belts. Over time, belts may become slack or decompose into tar-like compound. In this case, the deck will need to be cleaned and belts replaced. Take to pro/tech

My real vr632hf will load and the tape goes around the barrel but none of the functions like play or rewind will not work

If your Realistic VR632HF cassette player is loading tapes but none of the functions like play or rewind are working, it may be a mechanical or electrical issue. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try: Check the belts: The drive belts that operate the cassette mechanism can become worn or stretched over time. Open the cassette player and check the belts for signs of wear or damage. If they are loose or damaged, replace them. Clean the heads: Over time, the tape heads can become dirty or magnetized, which can affect the sound quality or cause the cassette to not play at all. Use a cotton swab and some rubbing alcohol to gently clean the tape heads. Check the electrical connections: Make sure all of the connections inside the cassette player are clean and secure. Over time, dust and debris can accumulate in the connectors, causing poor performance or even complete failure. Check the motor: If the cassette player is not rewinding or fast-forwarding, it may be a problem with the motor. Check to see if the motor is running when you attempt to rewind or fast-forward a cassette. If it is not, it may need to be replaced. If these troubleshooting steps do not solve the issue, it may be a more complex problem that requires professional repair.

The tape cassette doesnt rewind

This can be a toughy without having the unit but the Chinese decks (After 1992 vintage) all but the expensive units and here are the makes they are using the same mechanism. This deck has two belts and the one is from the motor to the capstan and the other is fed from the capstan (under the flywheel) to the fast forward and rewind mechanism. If the fast forward is okay and the tape plays okay then the belts sre working and the rewind gear is out of position and if you are lucky then all you do is to push the left reel spindle in and replace the small plastics circlip which by the way do come loose sometimes. If that does not help then is it sometimes cheaper to buy a cheap portable set and fit that into your deck The motor on some is on the side and others sort of on top depending if it is a top loading or front loading machineI have seen these same mechanism in the following makes Philips Telefunken Akai Sony Teac Supersonic Roadstar and so on I hope this help.

Microcassette won't play but does rewind and fast forward

I have the 3 of these units at my office with the exact same problem. Turns out, with a little tinkering there is a simple fix.

Open up the unit (by unscrewing the two screws underneath) and look for a brass disk with a black rubber band around it that connects to a small tip. The rubber band should be either stretched, broken, or even melted. This is the problem. Over time the rubber band deteriorates which causes the unit to not play a tape (rewind and fast forward operate differently).

Replace the deteriorated rubber band with a new one similar in thickness and size. That should work like a charm. Be careful if the original rubber band has melted. It is tar-like and will be difficult to remove.

Hope this helps.

The dictaphone wont rewind or fast forward and makes a bleeping noise

Hi,
Does the tape move when you press rewind or fast forward.
If the tape moves for a few seconds then bleeps it sound like a sensor problem.
If it only bleeps when the rewind and fast forward are pressed and the play is ok it sounds like the actuator motor is faulty, this motor enables the rewind and fast forward.
Hope this helps.

Suddenly my Sony M-2000 Microcassette Transcriber will not PLAY. The tape will Rewind and Fast Forward fine, but when you push PLAY, it just beeps and won't move. Any ideas?

Just talked to Exec. Communication Systems. He said that the play motor is not turning (the rewind and fast forward uses a separate motor) and the problem is either the belt or the motor. They can repair them at $82.00 plus parts and shipping.

Rewind and fast forward

Put the cd in when it loads and display the disc time, you can then spin the round wheels forward or backwards to the place on the song that you're playing, this only work when the song is paused or stopped. If the disc is playing the wheels are only used to slow down or speed up the song.
