Question about Epson WorkForce WF-3540 All-in-One InkJet Printer
ADF? Automatic Document Feeder? Always white out or something stuck to the glass strip that takes the image as the document passes through it. Lift up the head where the paper goes in. I clean the glass strip with alcohol based hand sanitizer.

How you doin? Not so well from the sounds of your problem. Ok. Lets get started. When you lay a piece of plain paper on the glass, do you have the line?. When you scan plain paper and view on your monitor do you have the line? If the answer to "no" to the above, you have a VERY dirty adf feeder. Look at the top, and see if the white plate is dirty. If it is, clean with plain water or maybe a little window cleaner. A little ammonia won't kill it. Please let me know if this helped. I have the same model and love it. Have had it for 3 years and all I have to do is add ink. My wife will run hundreds of sheets of all kinds of goofy stuff from her computer and I find all the pages on the floor. She never pulls out the holding tray. Please look at those things I suggested. Let me know if it helped.

This article provides the self-diagnostic
steps necessary to evaluate top-to-bottom streaks that appear when
copying or scanning.
Important! This is seldom a scanner hardware failure.
The main reason for this anomaly is debris or marks on the scanner glass that is used for Auto document feeder (ADF) page scans.
