Question about Troy Bilt 175HP Manual 42" Riding Mower
Normally this caused by a leaky float needle valve in the carburetor; although, if you have a vacuum operated fuel pump it internal may ruptured.

Usually is a bad float valve needle and seat in the carb. Sometimes dirt in the floatbowl will cause this too. The correct thing would be to replace the needle and seat in the carb.
A temporary fix would be to turn the gas supply off from the tank as soon as you are done using it. If your mower doesnt have a shut-off valve, you can buy one and install it, pretty simple fix.
