SOURCE: Printer Error Fax RX in Memory

I found that once I had posted my question I was able to get into the on-line manual, once you move all the way though the pages (it won't let you jump to the end and work backwards) the solution was right there.

If you clear the memory, any faxes stored will be also be erased. This solution assumes that you have the fax storage option "On" to store faxes in memory.

On the control panel:

1) Press <Menu>

2) Use <Up> or <Down> arrow keys until "Fax" appears on the display, press <OK>

3) Use <Up> or <Down> until "Remote Fax Option" or "Advanced Fax Operation" appears, press <OK>

4) Use <Up> or <Down> until "Off" appears, then press <OK>

5) You will be prompted: "Erase all fax?" 1. Yes 2. No

Press <1> to erase all faxes in memory.

6) Press <Stop/Exit> to return to normal function

How can I delete the memory on a brother mfc-465cn printer fax machine? It will not receive faxes due to this

Review page 65 in your manual. Changing the "Advanced Fax Operations:"

If received faxes are left in your machine's
memory when you change the Advanced Fax
Operations, the LCD will ask you one of the
following questions:

Erase All Fax?
Yes - Press 1
No - Press 2

Print All Fax?
Yes - Press 1
No - Press 2

• If you press 1, faxes in the memory will
be erased or printed before the setting
changes. If a backup copy has already
been printed it will not be printed again.
• If you press 2, faxes in the memory will
not be erased or printed and the setting
will be unchanged.

OUR FAX SAYS 98% MEMORY FULL SOMETIMES WHEN THEY TRY TO FAX SOMETHING. HOW DO I CLEAR THE MEMORY? NATALIE

Press Menu, 2, 5, 2. The screen prompts you to choose a fax setting. Press <-- or --> to select OFF then press SET. If there are faxes in memory when you turn Fax Storage to OFF, the LCD prompts you to erase faxes in memory. If you press 1, all fax data is erased and Fax Storage is turned OFF.

You may want to enable Real Time TX so you can send fax without using memory. (Under FAX-SETUP SEND-REAL TIME TX)

You may also disable Fax Storage if you don't want to store incoming faxes in memory for remote retrieval (Under FAX- REMOTE FAX OPT-FAX STORAGE)

For effective use of the memory, you may also clear the caller IDs stored in the memory. Press MENU, 2, 0, 2 Press the arrow keys to display # then press CLEAR.

Hope this helps!

Erase faxes in memory

I had the same problem and wanted to remove confidential faxes from memory in order to be able to sell or donate old T45. Manual does NOT help.

My solution is based on fact that I have a separate FAX and voice line. I connected my Windows machine (which has a fax/data modem) to my voice line and faxed a large (80 page) software manual to the fax machine. This fills the available memory, thus erasing the old documents. (To save paper, remove paper supply first, the fax machine will still receive and store the document.)
